I'm more considering doing them because of the amount of time and mileage than any signs of actually needing to. More precautionary than anything.

I know a few of us will have CBs and handhelds so there will be more than a few ways to communicate rig-to-rig. I will update the first post to add you to the list.

What ham handhelds did y'all buy?

We'll see about that.

Last time I went camping in the Ozarks the forecast was a low of 53. We woke up to 31 degree temps and rain. That was in April 2015. I assume that if it gets that cold in April that it could happen in October...

So let's talk fuel. How much spare gas does one need for this adventure? I kind of assume none given the short duration of this trip, but want to double check anyway.

Make sure you get a lid for your trash can, we don't want the gas to spill in bed of truck and drip down on your exhaust system while on the trail.

None. Bring a couple gallons if you have room for it but I think we'll have more spare fuel than is needed for the group.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Really depends on the size of the gas tank onboard. My 18.5 tank tends to empty faster than other people's larger tanks. I will probably bring a spare 5 gallons.
