exactly what I'm looking for

Careful with buzzwords. When I was sorting through resumes last fall at work all of us supervisors always had a good laugh when a person had all the right buzzwords crammed onto one sheet of paper.

Honest, dependable, self starter are always some good ones. Who the heck is going to put they are a liar, worthless, and lazy on a resume? A well edited and formatted resume stands out; in my experience it is the same as showing up to an interview sharply dressed.

I need to tighten it up but I never really talk about myself - just accomplishments.

Below's what I have for my old job and I need to tweak it for sure. I did much more than whats listed. They had nothing when I got there - I got to start from scratch. I wrote every warranty, spec, and install doc myself then figured out the production side of things and all processes/paperwork/data entry systems for coordination with my warehouse guys + hiring and firing them, all while supporting other depts.

"Founder and GM of XXXX's Entrance Division. Coordination of entrance projects throughout their lifecycle including: design, safety (ADA/Egress/Basic Engineering/Fire/Seismic/Windloads), estimating, direct to market sales, sales representative training and support, material acquisition, accounts payable/receivable, customer service, value engineering, domestic/international shipping logistics, inventory control, and basic overall production management. Responsibilities included employee and customer training to support product procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance."

Glass breakage under warranty - what to do

This is one of the best blurbs regarding what to do and how to protect yourself should your glass go bad. This could be in your home or at work.

Did your landscaper blow a rock through your sliding glass door? Or are you blaming him because by chance the glass blew up on it's own, on the same day he mowed?

How to Determine the Cause of Glass Failures | USGlass Magazine & USGNN Headline News

I alwasy laugh when people call me for warranty replacment of the glass becuase it's never the same day and they have already cleaned it all up thus throwing away what little evidence they may have had that would of allowed them a free replacement. Don't be your own worst enemy and discard your evidence prior to collecting samples and pictures or better yet don't do anything but cordon off the area for safety and get the glass guy there ASAP.

If the glass guy starts cleaning it off before taking pics or talking abotu what did it - he's protecting himself not you by getting rid of the evidence.

Boss threw a bunch of stuff at me today trying to keep me. Apparently our guys in the field heard about me leaving (not from me) and they called the boss to protest. Also my boss was attempting to procure more work from a large GC's head PM and during the discussion he dropped that I was leaving (poor ownership decision). The PM who Ive done some very nice jobs with said if he let me go it would be a huge mistake. Always good to know when you do a good job some people notice and will stand up for you on their own unprompted.

All that said my boss will no longer be involved in my commission checks, PTO, or any "deals" we have made regarding salary or my vehicle expenses. Our accountant will be given the "deal" in writing today then held accountable for paying it out to me. I'm also done with him paying for "wear and tear" items on my car because that was impossible to expense with this guy forgetting every deal we ever made including all the ones in writing. Now it will be the fed standard price per mile + tolls and Ill submit expense reports. This will also be the standard set for all other employees going forward so everyone has the same foundational 'deals' and the boss can add to that if need be, but s in no way the person you need to go to to kneel in front of, kiss the ring, then hope you get what he promised you.

Also got him to admit the 20k we pay every year to a certification organization and have not gotten job from is a waste of money and I am done being the guy who handles it all. It detracts from my sales and in no way has helped this company. He agreed so byby to those weeks wasted on paperwork and documentation.

Also covered job costing & inventory control. Ill be setting up a quickbooks for our jobs so they track themselves and all PM's will be required to use it to fill out purchase orders. We are going to start tracking everything. I'm not going to kill myself to make profits then let some jackass steal them away thats in a different dept and can't even cover his own salary let alone make us any money. Slackers will be identified and rooted out. People going above and beyond will get positive reinforcement and taken care of accordingly. No more "perception" bs where the guys here running around with the heads on fire are looked at as good workers and the guys who plan 3 steps ahead and never rush around screwing stuff up are valued more.

Not 100% yet and I haven't dropped on him I want my end of year commission check to now be quarterly. If Ive got the leverage might as well make it easier for me to leave in 6 months when nothing I have requested is done.

So today I'm ordering new tires for the car and a new windshield.

Boy do I feel like a sucker.... but the stress from not having an income in 2 weeks is gone. Now I just need to start looking so I can transition w/o losing income.

Looks like the only thing you left out was a percentage of the company as part of the deal to keep you there long term.

That's only because any % of $0.00 = $0.00 lol

I also have crap for health insurance but like I said - this was not a negotiation tact. More of a motivational force to get me going. Now I suspect Ill slump back into sitting on my ass, but going to do my best to avoid that. Covid should help - if I'm not out having fun might as well be working

Just missed a bullet here... these guys tried to hire me for the past few months to manage all their branche's entrance depts. No thanks. Not working for hedge fund a holes - never working for foreign nationals or foreign hedge funds. Such a shame what has happened to these companies. From owners who founded and ran the companies great to a bunch of ahole CEO's from a hedge funds that are clueless.....I feel bad for the workers who I suspect will start being laid off. I know my local plabt has already laid off 100+.

The Glass Guru Franchise Adds New Texas Location | USGlass Magazine & USGNN Headline News

Not a big fan of franchises and I'd never recommend anyone buy one. That said there is a gap in the market so people can make money for now with them.

Only issue is you are indebted to the franchisee for life. If this couple had hired a good GM or AGM under contract for a year or two they could of grown the business from the ground up and stand all on their own. Sure you might not get that corporate account to handle the McDonald's in your area but those national account contracts are capped and making money can be difficult if you aren't efficient. Like being a Amazon driver delivering crap in your car - if you don;t account for all your real expenses you can get fleeced pretty easily. Also never recommend anyone go into any business w/o a pro. Their supply chain, accounting and marketing "systems" may be set up great but that means nothing when you have no idea what basic building codes are.

Not sure if I can hold out this long, but just got approval to attend and take off Friday so I can head to upstate NY to camp right after the show.

See old friends and more importantly see who is looking for employees. Was supposed to do San Antonio - then Chicago, and they fell through so now Long Island it is.

Pretty sad day when India's building codes become more strict than ours Commercial buildings get 45 days to replace annealed glass doors

They wipe their poop with their hands....

Currently we allow old unsafe glass to stay in doors so long as it was installed prior to the code changes. Basically to save $$ we put the public at risk. I don't know the numbers but people die every year here because of this. Last year a father of 4-5 kids died when he slipped on snowy steps in NYC and fell through a door lite.

This is also directly linked to the worst injury Ive ever gotten from glass (put my hand through a plate glass storm door while knocking on it and needed a ton of staples in my hand).

Just did a nearly 2.5 hour job application and assessments for a job listed on the company's website for it to say "Thank you for completing the assessments. We are no longer accepting applications for this position." I'm fucking done with this shit today.
