Oh I'm real curious. Even 1 good contact made could be a game changer.

Turns out he wants me to do a talk/class. We were bs'ing last night. Similar to a 30min-1hr AIA accredited "class" on glass that I used to do for architects when I was working for a mfg.

They need continued learning credits to retain their licenses. Just not sure if anything I do would be accredited since I'm now a sub not a mfg and have no "formal" education besides real life experience. He's looking into that

Oh and my class is accredited so Ill be talking at the end of August - was end of July but Covid. Luckily they grandfathered me in for my work history not formal education or letters after my name that really just mean book smarts not real world experience

no going backwards - mushing forward

I only look back in hindsight because this place is worse. when I left I was unhappy so I'm sure if I went back I'd be just as unhappy if not worse. they have even more red tape and more clueless employees I'd have to hand hold than when I left.

Exactly

It might not be too late to call your old boss and see if they have a need.

Don’t ever go back and shit in the same hole, the smell does not change, and often the shit gets stuck on your shoe, the kind of shit that does not come off easy.

one of the worst and best jobs that I ever had was at the same company. The person you directly report to makes all the difference in the world.

If you have the skills and they have the money, nothing says you can't go back and have a different experience. If it sucks, then you ride it out for a few years and move on again (so that don't look like a jobhopper) all while making more money and using it as a stepping stone to a bigger next paycheck.

This is the kind of paranoid bungholes that run that company I used to work for. I know your not in construction so quick explanation of the events. I need details to copy then replicate and distribute to the architect and general contractor showing I am providing the specified products and how they will look when installed. I attempt to get a CAD detail from my old company so I can get the architect who specified their products to approve of the installation methods. McGrory sends me a 6 page NDA asking me to sign it before I am provided details of the system.

Now the entire intent of me getting the details is to copy and distribute them so why would I sign and non disclosure agreement that opens me up to future liability for sharing the details and replicating them? Dumbest morons Ive ever dealt with in my life.

Who in their right mind would sign off on a 6 page NDA then break it immediately. These guys are their own worst enemy.

So I applied for a senior position at my company yesterday after multiple phone calls from different people telling me I needed to do it. The company has five Business Relations Managers (BRMs) that handle IT projects and issues between the corporate support (that I work for now) and the individual sub business in the company. Currently the only hiccup is that the sub business headquarters is in Massachusetts and I have no desire to relocate. I am hoping they will loosen up on the requirement for a person in office; especially considering how 90% of our IT work force is remote now. They have plants all over the US and Mexico so it is not like there would not be travel anyways.

As for the income side of things; it would be a 15-20% pay bump so that would make like easier too. No complaining there. But for now I am just keeping my other work going and waiting for the interview process to start.

Good luck man!

Yea, try to avoid the mASSholes as much as possible. NE people suck and land is super $$$ + That 15-20% would disappear immediately due to increased taxes and cost of living increases. You'd have to pay me a ton of money to move to mass - like double what I make now. I do like Mass more than CT. I really H8 CT lol

Appreciate it. I am hoping my location in Texas works in my favor. They have major plants in Texas, Mexico, and Illinois so I am only not local to their HQ. But we have a decent number of their corporate managers at my local plant so I do not know. The whole thing is 50/50 right now. I am surprised to even be in the running considering I have been with the company not even a year and a half yet. But my experience at my previous company appears to be working in my favor for this.

The cream always rises to the top quickly in well run companies. They can pick a valuable person easier than a poorly run company so definitely something to be proud of regardless of what comes out of it. Even being a prospect is a prideful event, especially considering your time served for them like you said.

Been working on/off for 20 years for union companies as a manager and never even heard of this union let alone know they have the largest membership in North America.

Construction workers’ union gets slick new headquarters in Vaughan

Seems like a good idea to me to combine all the halls into one like they do. Here every trade has their own hall and thats a huge waste of money IMHO for infrastructure and added staff.

The idea of having the union Healthcare, bank, and other services in one building is pretty smart..

I agree. Then everyone can share the receptionist and other services like janitorial/etc. These days efficiency is the key to survival, especially for unions.

Would also stop the different trades from fighting as much when they are under one roof for school & office. We had a guy get into a fight and KO a HVAC guy a few weeks ago and then the BA's got at each others throats when they started arguing about their guys they are supposed to protect. In the end nothing happened and no one was disciplined - both BS's just swept it under the rug.

and the last straw was just put on my back. Boss just screamed at me for the last time for something someone else did. I didn't even try to talk my way around it or tell him what really happened. Just let him yell over the phone for 20 minutes while he is at the beach living the life while his company crumbles. I'm done being treated like a POS so tomorrow my third resignation goes in and no way I'm staying this time. Last day to be Friday August 7th unless he's a dick and if he pulls any shady stuff or yells Ill just walk out. No more BS for me :) Giving my manager my resignation tomorrow and neither of us telling the boss until he comes back from vacation Monday. When he asks why Monday I'll play the recording of him ranting for 20 minutes like a spoiled child. You know it's time to go when you start recording conversations on the phone and in person. Id' never sue, but want to have ammo just in case. BTW - my commission check clears tomorrow so perfect timing. Only thing I didn't get was my new tires.

Sucks to hear that, what a crappy situation, let it blow over best you can, line up the next yob first, then drop the ball, hang in there, just tell yourself, "I could care less", focus and deflect that anger and stress elsewhere, don't let that BS get to you, you got this Boyd, hang in there, your biggest TOR interwebz friends are routing for you!!!
