Probably not a good boat for the coastWell my boat isn't really like a big boat or anything. its one of those little metal ones. Its like 3-4 feet wide. It doesn't have a motor. It runs on elbow grease. Is it still ok to bring? I kinda want to try and fit it in the bed of the taco. I think it might work if I clamp it down.

i say do a little more research on boating out there. from what i've read Bird Island Basin has a boat launch ramp (not that your boat would need it) and has a rental place to rent kayaks and windsurf boards. while the boat might not be good for the gulf side of the island, the waters on the back side of the island might be ok. http://www.nps.gov/pais/planyourvisit/bird_island_basin.htm
but i haven't been there, so i can't say from experience
I also found out that dried seaweed makes a great firestarter.
I usually bring gold bond or baby power. It gets the sand off better than anything else.Mmm!! I don't knowI hate having sand all over when I sleep in a tent. I see if I can get reservations at Mustang Island Sp I hate missing all the fun at after midnight and at the crack of dawn

I think it's making ya'll soft that bucket of water is a damn good idea.I will second the baby powder trick. Also having a bucket of water out side of your tent to dip your feet into will help keep sand out of your tent. Depending how far down the beach we camp you could be 3 hours away at Mustang Island SP.
I've done that before, but the last time I did that, the water would glow every time I put my feet in. Was some sort of florescent algae or something.that bucket of water is a damn good idea.
yeah if you get out there and stomp you feet the splash will glow (pretty cool back in high school on shrooms).....I've done that before, but the last time I did that, the water would glow every time I put my feet in. Was some sort of florescent algae or something.
