So how was pulling this beast of a trailer off road? Anything you plan on changing?

Kinda looks like you could use a new set of Dakar's from some of the pics posted. :stick::D

It did fine for power and speed. I stayed about 67-68 MPH and was getting around 11 MPG with it. The tongue was heavy and it was sagging pretty bad on the start of the journey. Once I emptied some of the fuel and water cans it helped. But on the first day I did this pretty steep climb without any issues, not touching or spinning a tire really. I do need to work on a way to keep the 7 pin harness out of the max-coupler though. I was turning around in the middle of this creek bed (purple paint on tree indicated private property.. later found out it wasn't) and the Taco got in a bind with the trailer jockey wheel hitting the bottom of the fuel can holder on the bumper. Got that off and it was easy peasy. But I noticed later that the trailer harness had been pinched pretty bad. It still works but it has a good "dent" in it.

As for the HD Dakars... maybe.

Well my Odyssey died. Had it on the shore power after we got back. It seemed fine. Unplugged shore power and let it sit. About 2 months ago I came out to get working in the thing again (mainly organize shit) and the battery was dead. Charger brought it back to life. A week later it was dead again. I verified that I had not left anything on in the trailer. Charger would not bring it back again. Bought a charger that supposedly can repair damaged batteries and has an AGM setting. Still nothing. Took it back and got my $$ back because they don't carry it any longer. Bummer. Options are an X2 Power group 31, same damn battery just different color. But its also gonna cost about $75 more. Go cheaper with a non-AGM.. but I don't like the idea of a non-sealed battery bouncing around in the tongue box and if for some reason it gets flipped over.. nasty. Interstate has a dual purpose AGM marine battery I might go with.. but it also more $$.

Ok, well someone posted about them in the past, drank/snore/whores since then.

It was me. I asked if anyone had used one before. My Odyssey has the terminals on the wrong sides and I have some sketchy (at best) cable extensions to make the stock cables reach. Was looking at options to get a battery with the right terminal layout. But I never did. It's still a welding experiment under my hood.

Yeah its half the price of the others I was looking at. Might have to redo my battery hold-down but that's easy enough.

I am redoing some of the battery wiring when I put it in, adding in another Blue Sea fuse block and a Blue Sea battery disconnect switch.

So do we start the project clock now? I want to start a betting pool on when it will be done; something to help fund TOR Christmas 2020.

My starter will be installed by 2020, fingers crossed.

Also, Bass pro or Cabelas sells a rebranded marine AGM battery iirc
