My Masterpull was $400.. but look at the specs of the crap they (Mfg) spool on and call synthetic. Its basically the same rating as the steel (which is shit). My M8000 came with steel rated at 9000lbs. Aftermarket is WAY stronger.

Shit, my synthetic is rated at 14k pounds. I think my winch is rated at 9500# IIRC

I can't remember what the controller was rated for, but I think it was 15 or 20.

You will love it! If I carried my RTT on the truck I'd do a Prinsu rack on the cab and stuff two 80/100 watt panels up there.
That's what I want to do eventually but it's not a priority since I don't really need it.

I still do not understand the whole "solar panel on roof" thing. To each their own I guess.

Beer that has to be kept that cold is not good beer - but my fridge keeps all my stuff cold without a solar panel.

Let me know when you take 2 week trips and report back to me. :BangHead:

Can't beat free resources no matter how you look at it....well unless it shorts out and burns down your rig or home.

If I'm going out by myself camping or with my core group we typically have zero electrical devises besides a blue tooth radio that can charge stuff. Any/all electrical lanterns are pretty much banned. Smacks handed out for looking at someone with a headlamp turned on/etc. Pretty much enjoy our nigtht vision as much as possible. That said, my car was not happy after siting in 5deg for a few nights and the initial start up was rough. Being in the middle of nowhere camping solo got me to thinking about solar. Not for anything permanent. More for a back up system for emergency preparedness/long term camping/jump start.

Only thing I know for sure is I will not be messing with any sort of lead acid batteries or goal zero type stuff. Lithium Ion only with the smartest solar controller and best fold-able/portable panels I can find. Looking for Qualcomm 3.0 but tech hasn't reached the masses yet it seems. Think only one panel is "in design" with 2.0 and one panel is on the market with 3.0.

I love free power... and the knowledge that I don't need to start my truck for DAYS and still have cold items in the fridge no matter how many times my kids open and close it. Before I had the panel I could get about 3 days out of the old marine battery (not group 31) if I was by myself. Take my son with me and it was one day.. he was in and out the fridge every 30 minutes it seemed. Killed it.
