Buy a quality, quick release scope mount, LaRue is the only brand I recommend and use the same optic on different AR platforms, after zero’d in, just record what weapon with corresponding windage and elevation specs

There are better scope mounts out there than this one... Also, unless you plan on moving your scope around or using it in combat (where you'd need to take the scope off to get to your backup irons) then I typically don't suggest quick mounts anymore. The extra weight and the extra money doesn't make em worth it.

Yep, I've seen QD mounts on guys rifle pop off or be loose (mine included). I shot a couple of weekends ago with my LEO buddy and his QD Aimpoint scope mount was loose! o_O

Don't get me wrong, La Rue scope mounts are GTG but there's stronger, lighter options out there now.

Ordered a Holosun HS507C mini red dot on sale for $246 shipped just now! I've been waiting for these to go on sale since they were announced at Shot Show! Super pumped! This will be going on my 10.5" AR pistol build. You can select between the EO tech reticle, a red dot or just a circle (for use with a shotgun). Also has the shake awake feature, long battery life and solar power capability.

You should subscribe to this guy. He puts out solid, well thought out advice. More so than most other people online. And the best part is it's free advice!

Yeah, I bought one of those Larue mounts for my AR. Sold it before I ever used it. I much prefer the idea of having a fixed scope on each gun.

I don’t own any thing that is set up to be tacktikool, around my house, myself and a XD 9mm pistol is the only thing tackykindakool that I use for self/home defense, everything else, which is hunting primarily use, is locked up and if I don’t plan on using different optics on a particular rifle, fixed rings all day long...

The use of quality QD scope mount and scope is an option I like, saves me from dropping another $1100-1500 on another platform.

So the JP barrel arrived today with the matched bolt and adjustable gas block. So the upper mostly assembled with the Midwest Industries forearm, an upper from @Anathollo , and the JP barrel weighed in at 3 lbs. The lower I will be using with it came in a little under 2.5 lbs. So I should still be good to stay at my goal of 7 lbs after a scope, mount, and BCG.

I am looking forward to breaking this barrel in and seeing what it can do out to 600 yds. The end goal is to do some sheep hunting in the next few years. Before that it is going to get some flat OD green and tan paint to help break it up some.

Test fit everything after paint today. I need to machine some clearance space between the gas block and handguard in one spot; but other than that it is great. The rifle without glass weighs in at 6 lbs 2 ounces and I still have a handful of parts I can swap out to drop an ounce or two. Now to get a few magazines and optics on it.

What grip is on it?

What length barrel?

18" barrel; intended for field use, not bench use or I would have went with a 24" barrel.

What grip is on it?

The grip is the cheapo Blackhawk Ergo grip. I have a Magpul grip and I never cared for it. Next purchase will be a scope mount. I am debating between the Vortex or Aero Precision cantilever mount. The difference is 3 ounces and $20.

Ok Im Interested in duplicating this build, est cost? I have been wanting a large caliber hunting rifle that I can use a 30cal can on, only thing I have now is 300bo but I need something with the 300+ yard range with power.

Not concerned/interested in the forearm guard or stock. Part numbers please

The 6.5 Grendal is for standard AR lowers correct? and the creedmore is large AR 10 frame.

Seems like the entire season of G&A has been focused on 6.5mm. They really had me ready to drive North and grab a Tika bolt gun in 6.5 but I decided to go cheap and get a semi in a larger caliber instead. Saved me 10X the money and it will put 100X more ammo downrange. Just waiting for the barrel to come in then Ill post pics. Ammo and barrel "were" due to be here today before 8pm tonight per Fed-Ex tracking, but tracking shows it in Indiana so no idea how it's going to get 700+ miles in less and 5hrs time lol

Fed-Ex blows IMHO. I wish companies gave options for UPS.
