Sorry Blake. Didn't see you second post. Yes. Factory battery won't handle it alone for long periods.

I'm gonna call complete bullshit. My ARB fridge has been running 24/7 for the past 5-6 years. It's been on a battery and solar panel on the truck for the past 2. Continuously. So maybe your stock electronics can't handle it but the fridge definitely can.

I thought that's what I said... The truck just won't run it 24/7 because there's a low voltage cut off built in to the fridge. Once the battery gets down to 11v (I think), the fridge cuts off so that you aren't left with a vehicle that won't start. I need to upgrade the battery to a group 31 and I'm probably going to look into a small solar panel I can hook up and throw on the hood for my trip to Arkansas next month.

2nd battery I think is a must.... You can add as much shit as you want solar etc, not gonna help you when you need that jump from a dead battery.

How many fishing boats go out with only one battery?

Wether fishing or out on the trails, how many 4X4's go out in the woods with one battery?
Answer: Just Blake's 4R

No really there is got to be a way/space to add 2nd battery

To mount a second battery under the hood, it's over $500 just in "relocation" kits to make the battery fit. Then the isolator/management kit, battery, etc. looking at $1200+ to add a second battery under the hood. Not happening anytime soon.

I saw a kit to relocate that emission air pump deal yesterday and they guy wanted a few hundred dollars for some hose, clamps and a small metal plate. For $1200 I would rather buy a full length roof rack, solar panel where the sun roof would go and then an Odyssey or Die Hard battery.

If I were to do a second battery I would buy the Shrockworks dual battery kit and washer reservoir relocation. That's $400. But it won't fit a group 31M battery so I'd run a group 34 on it and extend all my leads over to use it as the starting battery. Then I'd run a Pelfreybilt battery cage in stock location with a 31M as auxiliary battery. That's another $600+ for two batteries and the cage. Then another $250+ for isolator and management system. Figure probably another $100 in power/ground leads, terminals, etc. Add in the cost of solar shit. I'm not dropping $1500-$2000 to have a fridge in my truck right now. Eventually maybe I can justify it but I can't right now. It can go in the camper like originally planned and I'll use the Brute.

After getting the Columbia dual battery tray, I wouldn't do it again. It's so damn easy to get a small plate of 3/16" plate steel and cut your own bracket. Then drill a couple of holes in the fenders for the j hooks to go into or use some allthread with a fender washer and nylon nut. The 6 hours that I spent modifying my Columbia kit coulda been spent making my own with scrap steel I had lying around my garage. I figured it would've saved me time if I bought the kit.

Or you can buy a plastic battery box to keep in the back with the fridge, run some 4 gauge wire to the back from the isolater & primary battery and install a quick disconnect system for the secondary battery. Put it in when you need it or take it out when you don't. You'll only need the secondary battery for long trips to run the fridge if you don't plan on keeping the fridge in your car 24/7.

I was actually going to drink the last one of those in my fridge this afternoon and my wife told me to pick a different beer. She does not share beer well.

It was between that and my last Revolver Sidewinder. I think I will have the sidewinder, my last Shiner prickly pear and maybe some home brew while I feed a smoker for 4 hours tomorrow. My wife doesn't like anything hoppy so my beer is safe. My Whiskey just has to share a cabinet with her wine.

Wait.... homebrew? We should sit down with some growlers and compare brews. I have a couple of barleywines in kegs right now.

Not mine. My neighbor who used work for four corners brewed it. I have been wanting to start brewing.

That can also be arranged; I need to place a few orders to finish my brew stand. When I have brew days anyone who wants to trek down to Granbury is more than welcome to come watch hot water run over grains.

Not too early at all. Most of us here would say that is rather late.
I can relate to that. When we camp we normally start and finish the day with a hot chocolate and bourbon cream. It takes the edge off while the coffee is percolating.
