You get your estimated tax bill for 2021 yet? Mine didn't increase. I almost fell over.

I haven't yet, I just recently received the little card they send for how much property taxes you pay the previous year. I'm hoping mine didn't go up either but nothing surprises me in this money hungry state.

Yeah I'm about to refi as well I believe and get away from paying taxes and insurance through escrow.

I separated the insurance years ago too, my mortgage company (BSI financial) continuously screwed up and never sent a check to my insurance company, so more than once I got a letter from insurance saying they never got paid and they were going to drop me. Then I would get a letter from my mortgage company saying that I my insurance company sent them a letter to tell them my insurance was going to be cancelled and I needed to provide proof of insurance since I had a mortgage. I'm like, "don't you two idiots talk?!" . Why I was paying them to only send money to someone else (and fail to do so) just seemed silly. The escrow system is designed for people who can't set aside and save money on their own. I have not had a problem on any late payments since I divorced the insurance and taxes from escrow, funny how that works.

Good time to do it.. we did it back in Oct/Nov.. got 2.35% IIRC. You can get lower now. Why did it go up $700? Property taxes?

Supposedly there was a deficit in the escrow account. So now I'm having to make up for that on top of paying more.

Escrow seems to always be wanting more, I started paying my taxes separately so they stopped holding so much of my money. Why let them play with a few extra grand?

Yeah...I may just do that too.

Mr Pooper is always late at paying my taxes. I got a letter from the sheriff saying my house was going up for auction if they weren't paid one year lol Little annoying but not enough for me to worry about splitting payments up - IDK about you but I'm 99% sure I'm not paying them any 'fees'

If anyone needs to refinance, it is you. Go check out a local credit union and get away from Mr. Pooper.

I got the garden hose refilling the pool at the moment. The cold caused a split in the filter vessel and it leaked out a BUNCH of water. So I am refilling it... so far so good. I need to uncover the pumps and see if there is any real damage.

All good! Have the filter vessel every so slightly leaking, I believe its because the gasket is still frozen.. its in the shade and had a lot of snow around it.

My bus washer didn't fare so well. Busted lines and 3 cracked filter housings. Funny that my Facilities guy "drained the building" yet....

Yeah, he drained it.

I did find something broken, the pool temperature sensor got busted. I attribute that to me piling shit on top a small wire. Luckily a new one is cheap.

Hes a dipshit. Literally a drain at the lowest point in the system directly above the underground shutoff valve. It should've been left open and it wasn't. Pretty sure he didn't do shit but show my evening shift how to turn water off. Apparently they were washing buses Friday night so knowing him he bounced and told them to just shut water off.

I've been lucky enough to put myself in a good situation where a refi does me nothing due to the amount of debt I owe being so little. Short of them paying me to refi it doesn't make any fiscal sence even though my apr is high. I could pay it off but prefer to have that liquidity right now for the home remodel and lack of income coming in.

If anyone is familiar with stair framing and see's any glaring issues - I'd love to hear them. Spent a few hrs on these today and I checked most of the codes I could think of but I'm no carpenter so who knows what I could of missed.

frost line for me is 36" - you are south of me so could be less. the 8 x 12 of pad is based on load & the 8" is just what it ended up being when the two were factored. I could of done a couple inches less but always prefer to do more than less when it comes to code. no need to push the limits on a small project. if i had 100 holes it would be different.

Ill be lucky if they let me get away with 6" piers. usually 8 is min. we shall see. this is a small ass landing

Couldn't sleep last night so I spent some time working on the wifi in my house. Finally ran a wifi scanner program and figured out that my Arlo basestation and Apple Airport Extreme were on the same 2.4ghz channel and were fighting each other for connection. So I switched the radio channel for my Airport Extreme and now my wifi connection is so much faster. I was able to stream YouTube videos so much faster now (before it would take a few seconds to start loading the next video).

What scanner program did you run?

"Wifi Analyzer". It was free in the Play store. For Android users, you have to go into settings>location permissions> Allow all the time - in order for it to work.

Had a buddy review my drawings today after my triple check. He found some issues I just got done correcting. He's going to have his wife take another look tonight because she's an architect. Filling out my permit paperwork now so hopefully tomorrow I can start submitting. Gotta see if they want physical paper copies of the plans & if they do Ill need to get some printed up @ Kinko's or similar then drop them off. Hopefully they will accept digital.....not like you can't print out the elevations from Arch D onto 8 x 11 ~ you don't really need a 24" x 36" print. Who knows what they want for records. My survey was 11 x 17 ledger size and they accepted a photo of that, not even a legit digital copy.

I won't at the next place. Land in an unincorporated area or bust. Even then you still got the local Sheriff, Fish and Game, Etc.

Ill still build above code, but the drawings won't go the gubment for "approval".
