They are on a switch.. the same switch that controls the lights in the garage. They are in series off of them. Just like its shown to be done. Turn on the lights, fans get power. If you had left them on and/or their lights on they will come on as well.

Ok for some reason I thought you did not have a switch

Hey @Silverback ,

I'm sitting next to my electrical superintendent/Guru, what's the model # on these fans? He wants to look them up.

He said that if it's a DC motor, then something is wired incorrectly internally causing them to spin backwards. He said on 110V power it shouldn't affect these like that. So there's either a physical switch internally that adjusts the rotation of the blades or the Chinese worker built these on a Monday after the Chinese new year and you should return them. lol

New drainage ditch I decided to add tonight while my house was taking on water. When I cut the trench in there was so much water I could not really see where I was digging. Funny how fast it all drains when the rain stops.

With all the rain and flash floods anyone out there have swales on their land contoured with grade? Won't work with 18" of rain, but they can pretty much stop the run off of most storms.

Some of you may get put off because "hippy", but Ive been researching it for a self sufficient property I can plant a discreet food forest on.

Worked all weekend at my mom’s house. Hung a bunch of new light fixtures, new swanky ceiling fan in the kitchen (looked just like Sean’s garage fans), installed a TV bracket for her kitchen TV. Also, hung a bunch of insulation in the rent house and did a bunch of miscellaneous stuff to the house. At another one of my mom’s rent houses, I installed a water filtration unit on the kitchen sink because it’s fed from a separate main water line (really old house) and the line is degrading away which is releasing a bunch of junk that keeps clogging the kitchen sink faucet. Those little cheesy plastic fittings they come with are a PIA to install. I took the kitchen faucet apart to clean out the screens and they were %90 and %99 clogged on both screens.

One of the shop lights in the garage ballast burned out, so I’ve got to swap in a new one. It’s going to be a PIA to replace because it’s wired in series with a bunch of other ones so I’ll have to end up running new cable to the other two lights.

Try to do that in my state and you will become a felon in short order. :(

That's why when I do get some land it will be far away from civilization. I don't need some hillbilly neighbor shooting me or the gov arresting me when I start collecting rainwater by changing the grade of the run off.

Our city just sponsored a rain barrel program. We bought two at about 2/3's the cost of one from Home Depot or something. Nice barrels. Things are full now.

Good ol states rights... some promote self sufficiency and some will put you in jail for thinking of not suckling on their teet

News Flash: county now promotes and expands the mosquito breeding program, by offering homeowners rain barrels at discounted rates.

Ours were "FREE." To be read as, "A brother of some politician made $50 for each overpriced barrel that they siphoned state and federal money for so they all got rich!"

I so want a grey water system. Right now I take out a bucket in the morning from allowing the water to warm up. We also throw all of our rinse water on our garden each time I do dishes (we have a rinse 'bucket' that sits in the sink).

Growing up we had a grey water "filtration" system that went to a barrel that we watered from. I never realized how efficient it was until much later in life.
