Just got an estimate from a buddy I have known since my high-school days that has a property management company he started. One of those feel good stories of a kid screwing up his life, getting hooked on hard drugs, becoming a hardened criminal, doing some time, then growing up and becoming a upstanding member of society and a successful parent/husband/entrepreneur. Going to look at his schedule and get some crews out to trim all my trees, taking one dead tree down, and jack hamme/removing a couple tons of 50yo 14" thick concrete slab + removing the rubble from the chimney I took down last year.

I had gotten a quote a year or two ago from someone else and it was too high. This is costing me less than that quote with the trees included so I'm happy so long as the jobs done right/safely.

Finished up the latest project a couple weeks ago. Fits perfect in the space.

lol, only in Texas you can find ant mounds that are large enough to swallow a tractor.

I remember as a kid (maybe 1974-76) we traveled from Illinois to Arizona and back a few times. We would always stop in Oklahoma at some KOA to camp. I remember seeing HUGE ant mounts.. like 2-4' tall and as big around as a car. I haven't seen those in years. Did Fire Ants kill those other kinds of ants off?

guys didn't mess around even though they had to split up the loads (cinder block/concrete/terracotta).

already mixed in some top soil, seeded, and watered it. Now I just need to burn some scrap wood out of the pile in the back later tonight

now I have another 40+/- LNFT of plant beds to create when I re-slope the ground along with some stairs and a small ADA approved landing.

$5 says I forget the stairs are gone and walk out my door then face-plant. Might need to put up some caution tape inside my front door till I build the stairs/landing

Nice to see US citizens doing the work. My buddy hires 'reformed' ex-cons from the neighborhood so of course I knew both of his guys lol

Modified the carport st my dad's rent house today. Just have togo back and saw cut it to clean up the edges and then hang a gutter up so the driveway doesn't wash out everytime it rains. Then we can take down the tree to the right and lay down the other half of the gravel for the driveway. Lot of torch work and welding today. Glad we didn't have to do this shit back in June.

Yard service came out today and aerated the yard, now it looks like I have 100,000 cat turds in my yard. Rain made it easy for them to do so and now there are lots of cat turds. But the bad thing about having 100,000 cat turds in your yard is that you cannot distinguish real turds from fake ones. lol I have a 10 year old who picks up the real ones weekly and had just done so on Sunday. So it wasn't too bad. But my dog stepped in a real one while running around and then proceeded to track it through the house earlier today. Wife was not happy. Thankfully it was just on wood flooring and tile, not on furniture. So yeah, good times. Oh, and I think they should aerate in the Spring, not Fall. But I will call tomorrow and ask why.

My backyard is also full of crap....spent the past two days spreading it around for operation "grass seeds/less weeds". I thatched, aerated, fertilized, seeded, spread black gold/pete moss. Have to pull a Mr Rodgers and keep my sandals at the back door so I don't wear my sneakers inside ~ need one of those boot 3 way brushes mounted to the edge of my deck to clean off the crap.

top soil + pete moss I rake in then seed on top of. Learned a ton this spring doing it the wrong way so hopefully this takes off better.

also mulch/mowed my wildflower bed to re-seed it for next year, added dr earths organic bud helper/fertilizer + a fresh coat of black gold.

Hopefully the fall bulbs take off like crazy - yet to have one pop above ground yet.

I've been doing some electrical shit around the house. In my master bath, it originally only came with a single bowl vanity. I have since replaced with a double bowl, that was the easy part. When I went to hang the mirrors, the only GFI outlet in the bathroom was then covered by the new mirror so I had to figure a way to run some new circuits. I bought one of these boroscopes, good for checking what's behind walls, as well as various other shit so I figured a good investment

Luckily it was an inside wall so there was no insulation, made fishing new wires much easier. Nice to be able to verify what's routed back there before I'm drilling though.

New outlet on the right side of the vanity, cut out and used an old workbox

Left side used to have an outlet and three switches

Cut the old outlet box out

Replaced the two switches with a double rocker decor switch (fart fan and light), and changed the other switch (main light fixture) to a decor to match the outlets.

Still need to patch up where the old outlet box was and paint, but at least it's functional and I have outlets again in the bathroom

Lost my old drywall saw, so this saw worked great for cutting the new box in and cutting the old one out, been eyeing up a reason to purchase, uses standard sawzall blades and folds up

Next project in the works is under cabinet lights. Everything came in last week, so working on wire routing, hopefully have it done tomorrow. Using a standard AC triac dimmer with an electronic dimmable transformer. Should be pretty efficient and also doesn't take up much space, this transformer is good for 40 watts, more than enough for the 3 LEDs I'm going to install. They make custom lengths, so I ordered them to the length of my cabinets, as well as the interconnecting cables.

Snaked the new chase wire up using my snipe nose pliers, love these things for poking in hard to reach holes (that's what she said lol)

Lastly, changed my LED porch lights to "halloween colors", that's the extent of my decorating lol

Got 5 truck beds of limbs hauled out of the backyard to my parents place and put in their bonfire pile. Now I just need to get the reat of these smaller pieces burned in our fire pit. Gonnna start working on that once the wind dies down. Gotta get the shed torn down this week as well and get it haules off as well as the old section of deck and start clearing out the area for the new shed.
