Move out the stuff you want to keep, put Turkey in roasting pan filled with vegetable oil, set oven to broil and just get preoccupied, like working on the Tacoma... and the house will take care of itself.

4 holes.. rent a post hole digger. Keep it separate.

Thats what I'm thinking except Ill need 6 holes and Ill dig them manually. They want all handrail posts anchored to a peir so I can't use 4 like I thought. Thats fine - better way to build it.

Tacoma is close enough to catch the house or vise versa.....and the Taco has electrical issues lol

Filling out the demo permit now so I can drive it down.

I read this post first and was thinking "damn, what family are you burying? lol I was going to add "Don't bury them on your land!"

Edit: I should read TOR after my coffee has kicked in lol

Application for demo permit submitted. Fingers crossed...

Kinda gotta get my construction permit to overlap demo. I can't demo my soffits/fascia until I'm ready to put them back unless I want 100 tree rats in my attic. At least I'm starting to slightly comply with gubment mandates

BWT - our town hall is now closed to the public. Apparently they closed up last week due to covid. Everfyones still working there and trhe parking lots full, just no public. I had to put my plans into the drop box for prescription drugs. Had to call the asistant to ask where I was supposed to put them cause last night the guy said there was a building drop box. There isn't. It's an "all in one " drop box now lol

That sucks because it turns one trip into two at minimum. Back in 07 when I pulled my last permit they stamped my drawings, I paid, and got my permit all in one trip. All I had to do back then was schedule an appointment.

Can't make this stuff up... guy last night forgot to give me 3 pages of the jacket of the permit request. His assistant called me this morning about 20 min after I dropped off my docs then emailed the missing ones to me. I filled them out and made the second trip to drop them off this morning. Luckily as the crow flies the office is 2 miles form my house. if I was in the country and or not "working from home" I would be PISSED.

Spending the day cleaning out the junk/clutter that gets pushed back into the corners. The trash guys are not going to like me tomorrow.

Also - maybe the ads are getting more topical? That would be a nice home improvement.

Overall a pretty productive day. I cleaned out a cluttered area in the garage, added some shelves, and have regained a decent bit of space. Then I finished up a shelf project that I was dragging my feet on. The new office desk needed some shelving to make up for the lost shelving from my old setup. Now to finish tossing out the crap that piled up in my old desk.

*I do have a plan in place to get the monitors mounted on a piece of 80/20 aluminum so they are sitting further back on the desk and off the actual desktop.

spoke to the top dog in the bldg dept again tonight. guy always calls late, but Ill take what I can get ~ heard so many horror stories over the years

he questioned my zero monetary value I listed for the work on my demo permit application but 15k on my construction application

I told him I was self performing all the demo and that my time was free and there were no products or tools needed so it was all labor. other work requires products/tool rental.

he asked me overall what I thought the cost would be and I said about 15k and thats why I put it on my permit application. He was cool and we "he" settled on 10k total with 5k being demo.

apparently the permit cost is based on value and over 10k total is more or somehting.

he said he's approving my demo permit tonight and hopefully I can pay and pick it up tomorrow. he said he has no idea cause the buildings closed to the public and that his assistant would handle that and to wait for her call.

Well I'll say that is very cool of the guy to give you a break like that.

So far so good *fingers crossed*

Sadly, He's not the guy I need to make happy and that issued the violation. That's the inspector.

I need to settle on a stair design. Drew up a few different ones I'm thinking about. Ive never had an issue with porch pirates but if not for them the design would be simple. Now I'm trying to think of handrails/pickets that give some sort of "porch" feel & privacy to a small landing

that porch is bigger than my house.

I like wrap around porches. My dream build cabin Ive been drawing/messing around with for years used to have a wrap around porch.

Until I started looking up fireproofing after the past decade of crazy wildfires. Now Ill just have a detached screen house. First thing to go in a wildfire is the porches. Either the firefighters rip them off or they burn up then take the house down.

Just dropped my check off to the bldg dept.....$160 for demo so if construction is similar rate it should be a similar $. They are mailing my permit out today - I had to supply a self addressed stamped envelope with my check due to Covid cause I can't "pick it up".... lol

We won't let you in the building because of fear that you have covid, but you can put your DNA and germs all over an envelope that we'll handle and mail back to you. I hope you coughed on the envelope as you handed it to them.

everything goes into the prescription drug drop off thats just a yellow painted retired old blue postal mailbox in front of the building.

luckily for my taxes they have everything on one lot for efficiency (leo's/mua/etc.) ...

sadly that makes them likely to spread germs with a shared lobby so I get the closure. The design is not conducive to operate during a pandemic.....I'm just happy they are working at all. I know others who have been waiting over 4 months for permits. I got mine in mere days
