Daughter wanted LED lights around her room. I finally gave in. In our old house I put crown molding up and had it down from the ceiling about 2" or so... laid in a rope light all the way around. Put an outlet behind the crown and then had that outlet on a dimmer. It was super cool, walk in to check on the baby at 2AM and you can just make it barely bright enough to see. Anyhow, I wanted to do the same but with higher end LED's. Wife just said "Do it without the crown".. fine.. I did. I think it turned out pretty cool! Cool enough I want to do the same in the media room. Its controlled via a hardwired remote on the wire, a wireless remote or the phone app. She has the same brand lights under her bed so one app controls them all.

The old house, her baby room. Probably just after I got it done noting by the debris on the floor. Wish I had a photo of it all filled out, it was an awesome baby room.

Looks awesome!

Reminds of the time when I was the first contractor in the US to install this new generation of cove lighting.

Sadly I don't have more pics of it for some reason.

Ha I also forgot about this LED panel. It was an experiment by this lighting company to see how many LED's they could pack into a 110v panel. I forgot how many lumens it was, but it was insane. We used it for the whole buildout.

I took this pic right before I yelled at the painter for not wearing his hardhat and harness. lol

Harness in a scissor lift? Damn, I thought my work was strict.

Get caught at one of my company's plants more than 4' off the ground without a harness and you get to redo the safety training. That is part of the reason I am not allowed to use ladders at work. At least not a ladder without a handrail and rolling base.

Yeah our plant goes above and beyond most OSHA regulations so it actually surprised me when they said we didn't have to wear harnesses in scissor lifts. Something about being able to get away from it if it turns over. I don't have to use them anymore so it doesn't affect me one way or the other. But OSHA does classify them as scaffolding so they're only subject to the same regulations as scaffolding, not the aerial lift regulations.

My daughter has some in her room that work off a remote. No idea where she got them, she put them up herself lol

Exactly the reason my "tech" at home has suffered for years. This is one of the reasons yesterday I finally replaced my 41" Vizio TV with a proper 65" Samsung LED. Of course I overlooked the detail of the size of my current TV stand which means I am in the planning stage of a new stand / center solution. That is a conversation my sammich maker and I have been having already though.

It's been very cold so Ive been focusing indoors. Was purging records and came across the receipt for the first TV I ever purchased back in 2008. 32" Sony Bravia S-Series... Cost almost made me fall out of my chair. $999 and I had a $100 off coupon + $210 for the crazy cantilever wall mount I got so I could watch TV from the master bath/bed/and my deck outside cause it swings and extends about 3' from the wall. Then I remembered all the extra blocking I put in that wall before I closed it up. That sucked. That TV has been un-watched since I mounted it. I hooked it up, got it working, then put a trash bag over it for construction. Not until a few months ago did I unwrap it and start using it again....and now a 32" is less than $99

If I could go back in time - I'd smack my poor old self and keep using the tube TV I had that worked fine lol

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with them both (living room I have a larger Bravia that prob cost me waaaaaaaaay too much - but I did not look at that receipt on purpose after the 1k 32"). Prob just leave them in the house mounted to the walls/mounts. Tech is so old....both are dumb w/only 60hz so refresh rate sucks for HD sports/action movies these days

The drastic drop in technology costs is the biggest reason I tend to set $500 as my range for a new TV whenever I have to get one. I want one that is nice enough but I do not care if it is the first in the neighborhood or makes people want to come over. The less people want to see it the happier I am. Currently my monitor lizard watches it more than I do. He really prefers the hunting/fishing channels during the day. I will have get a picture of him watching it.

Upgraded my home office monitors yesterday. I had been using some old Samsungs that I rescued from recycling because they weren't the right brand at an older employer. The old employer was becoming an HP shop and anything that wasn't HP had to go...

Went from 22s to 24s. What's nice is they are about the same physical size as the new ones are "borderless." We were talking about the technology updates recently and the new ones are also about half the weight of the old. They are the same resolution as the old ones. I would have liked to get higher resolution so that I could fit more crap on a single screen, but I'm not going to complain. These were slated for a project at the current office that decided to go a different direction.

I am shopping for new monitors looking for a good deal/ setup. Since my desk is not that deep I am really looking for 20 or 22 inch with a thin border. My current setup is a mix of sizes that were available from a plant closing. I got the 3rd pickings for setting up my office at that time.

So far, I am liking these. They have a 75 Hz refresh rate (not that I can tell :D) and are advertised as an "Eye Care Monitor," so I guess I can reduce the blue light emitted. I need to play around with the settings. They are definitely a little crisper than my previous ones, but I also have them both hooked up via DVI instead of one DVI and one VGA like the last ones.

Merv 16 Carbon HVAC Filters suck....$$$$

I waited a little too long for this swap.

All the cold dry air + construction = dust/static/nosebleed storm so it was time.

Good to know the new air should be "fresh" for a week lol

Gotta love a little 2d/3d optical illusion.....both filters are identical and pictured perpendicular to each other

Wall mount the monitors or use a monitor arm mounts that get's installed on the back of your desk. I do it all the time for people at work. Look at ergotron monitor mounts, find one you like and then use that \ergotron monitor link to find a much cheaper arm on amazon in the comparisons lol

while going through all my monitors/stands packing up last week I found a wall mount that came with my HP 32" monitor when I bought it. Kinda surprised they provided one with it to begin with. it's nothing fancy - just a plate w/no adjustments

I have a wall mount HP PC in the garage w/ 27" monitor. Love it. I did similar in the kids room, she also has an HP PC mounted on the back of her monitor but its on an arm that is clamped to the back of her desk, not the wall.

I got a good one for you I was thinking about recently.....if you were buying a house would you look to see what kind of tech infrastructure it had?

Would you be turned off if the house was all wired with coax vs cat? Just remember this is a NJ sub 200k ex crack house in the hood not some TX mansion on 100 acres lol

Keeping everything coax would save me time and money during construction. I already have 4 of 6 rooms wired with coax.

With all the use of Wifi today I'm thinking Ill just run coax to the other two rooms and call it a day

I wouldn't worry too much about it for a house. (Cat5 is "on its way out" anyways by being replaced with Cat6). Coax should be just fine.
