can you chamfer them or will it pull more away?

I drilled then countersunk all the holes before I screwed my steps and with the soft wood it was not fun. I had to decrease drill bit dia and go to a brand new sharper countersink so it wouldn't pull splinters up. Also used a hand screwdriver to set them the final inch or so to protect the threads oh and I used liquid soap to lube the screws like we used to do way back in the day. With all that I'm coming to realize soft wood sucks regardless of what you do

Chamfer the shelf holes? They are pretty shallow, so I'll leave them as is and just sand over them. Plus, the pins are pretty shallow too.

My wife asked about running the router over some of the shelf edges so that they wouldn't be so rigid, but I kind of like how it looks (or will look when finished.

All screws were countersunk and I hid them behind the channels where the permanent shelves are installed. Since the entire depth is under 16", I didn't have 2 studs to go into, which is why the back support has a pocket hole. That'll give it stability when weight is added.

My only real complaint is the bowing of the top board. I remember it having a slight bow in it when I bought it, but I think sitting in the garage with the wet weather we've had just allowed it to curl in on itself a little more that I think it should have. Thanks, big box store wood!

countersink/chamfer....same thing.

a little kiss from a sharp countersink might do just what you need. works on glass and metal great for the same issues - I'm new to this wood stuff

It probably would be a nice touch, but I just sanded the holes on the center board and they all look good. I'm going to take the lazy way and just sand the outside boards as well. That's a lot of holes to hit with the countersink bit.

You ain't gotta tell me, I drilled and countersunk every hole I put in those steps + measured out the location of each. Little OCD but I can tell you it kept my mind at bay. Starting to go a little stir crazy with nothing to keep me on my toes. If not for chess & construction my mind would prob go to mush.

Good news is all the snows gone except for my windbreak and the grounds thawed so I just got all my fencing, posts, and concrete on order to finish the backyard. Prices dropped significantly this week (-$25 per panel) so I jumped on it immediately to beat the spring rush. Should be here Thursday.

I can't wait to get this thing finished and looking good. Everything's coming out except the plants. Rocks/fence/4x4's gotta go for some new weed block.

Never heard back from the town so I just had 4 sets of prints made up & picked up today and I'm dropping 3 sets off to them tomorrow. I'm ready to get this ball rolling now that the weathers turned

Live in NJ for 41 years.... escape plans & motivation will happen naturally. This is also my day job now so if anything I'm slacking. Really wanted to get allot more done over winter but 12hr days were more rare than the norm.

Threw together a screen this morning to make sifting the little river rocks in this bed easier. Hopefully the hr spent this morning will save more in the long run. My other beds have all Med-LG river rocks I bought and this one is all small I got for free so hand picking and cleaning them like I did the other beds is not an option.

also got my delivery area prepped and got a bunch of scrap wood set up for the pallets coming tomorrow.

soooooo Lowes sent me raw fencing today. Before the driver even unstrapped it I told him. I ended up taking it and Ill put in for a refund later.

Ill never understand all the complaining and bitching about HD and Lowe's delivery drivers. "They only drop curbside." "Won't even drop it on my driveway."

Rookies... first off using "sir" goes a long way and so does a crisp $20 bill. I ain't carrying thousands of pounds of concrete & rocks, 12 panels of fencing, and a bunch of 4x4's from my curb to my backyard.

driver dropped the concrete 4' from my shed.

and the wood right where I need it

well almost - I laid up the 4x4's to prevent more banana's than they already gave me......

5 gallons of water just trying to help "de-warp" some of the 12'ers - I had to remove it from sitting on top of my plywood stock lol

also just got back from dropping my plans and paperwork off at the building dept. Chick has yet to call me back from last Thursday... first time ever they didn't respond immediately

Picked up the 72” chest for the HF box today. Damn this thing is huge once assembled. Have to figure out a good spot for it in the shop, don’t feel like moving it around once it’s full. Please excuse the Amish look, I’m hoping people won’t bother talking to me in public with this look lol

Pulled the pressure washer out today. Put fresh gas in it. Wouldn't start. Got it running via starter fluid but it would not stay running. Pulled carb and sprayed the crap out of it with carb cleaner... no joy. Pulled the plug and gave it a scratch with some 400 grit paper. Still no joy. Looks like I need to buy a carb for it.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Thats lame. I want to get another electric power washer. I got 1 from costco and the wand started leaking water all over. I guess I should have known it would fuck up since I let a friend borrow it and anything he touches breaks in the most WTF way.
Costco return policy FTW but didnt have anymore like it.

Damn ethanol based gas is no good in carbs. Killed my dads mower, boat motor and damn near killed his splitter. I keep 20 gallon of non-ethanol on hand at all times.
