Shit like that is sad. My guess is nothing is 100%. Hopfully you run into one trade that did their work w pride and it hasn't been molested yet
I haven't seen any pride on this house yet. So that's my job is to re-do everything as best as I can to this house because it deserves a lot of TLC after dealing with all this shoddy work for years lol

But to clarify to everyone here, I'm not expecting everything on a residential house to be perfect. And I get that residential construction usually has the bottom of the barrel workers, but this house just makes me think "what in the fuck is going on here" too often.

This was under 3' of blown-in insulation lol

Yes, that's the copper lineset for the A/C unit looped up and held in place with metal nails. So the copper and the metal have been corroding against each other and it's eating through the pipe (couldn't get a good pic of it).

Yea, I've seen some crap work in commercial construction but it's nothing like residential. Whole different ball game w "handy men" and diy homeowners modifying stuff that was already built like junk.

Whenever someone bitches about code compliance it sets off many red flags in my mind. Just do it is never the right crede lol

Last bed gone and seeded today.

Sadly about 10' short so going to have to get resourceful and find some more so I can finish. Front beds full of rocks and not planted out so maybe I'll layout for plants out there and use those rocks to finish.

Left work early yesterday to meet with the structural engineer at my house. I also had my A/C guy stop by and take out the old furnace and outside unit.

Good news or bad news from the engineer?

It went exactly how I expected it too.
I mainly hired him to shut my wife up about how the house is framed since she wouldn't listen to me.

I got the master bathroom tub and stand out. It was just a plastic tub so I cut in half with a sawzall.

Got the majority of the masterbath shower tile out as well.

I got all the old galvanized piping out of the house.

Got 99% of the sheetrock out of the house as well.

Got in the stainless steel framing and siding nails I need because I live on the coast. Freaking $100 more than standard hot-dipped nails... But if you're going to do it, might as well try to do it right...

Spent the morning doing yard work. Got the front yard and back yard up to speed after all the rain we've had. Mowed and weedeated, weeded the flower beds, insect killer applied, and ran the thatcher through it. My Ego battery is giving up on me and I'm sick of doing this shit. So I've got a couple companies coming by to give me quotes on taking over the yard work and taking care of a couple landscaping projects we've been mulling around. I'll weigh it against the cost of replacing my equipment and spending my days off doing it and I'm pretty sure I know which one will win. So hopefully this is my last time fucking with it. Now I just need to haul a few things to the scrapyard and the dump tomorrow and put a new two way latch on the gate and I'll be satisfied for a while.

Got the shed, old water heater, and some random old shocks, rotors, and other parts hauled off this morning after disassembling the shed. Now I just need to cut up the shed floor and old deck and haul them out to my parents burn pile and the backyard will be ready for a make over.

Ripping up the wood deck to prepare for concrete. Woohoo! No more snakes, spiders, mice, and wasps to be living under the deck making you cautious of walking barefoot because of what may lie beneath

I got real hot and then jumped in the pool to cool off, but the water temp was 94° so it only felt good once I got out and stood the breeze. Ha

Added a shelf and some LED shop lights above my work bench. Much better utilization of that space now, and it’ll be nice having the extra light, can never have enough IMO

Didn't get near as much done on my week off as I wanted to but I was still fighting the last of the RSV symptoms for 4 days combined with it was just too damn hot.

I processed about ~$3k worth of 2"x4"s and other various boards (removed nails, screws and staples from them so I can re-use them). So that's about 30-40 2"x4"s sadly lol

I got some materials needed to re-do the bay side of my house. Just based off cost alone, I'll have to do one large order a month, ~$1k worth, of material because I can't afford to buy everything I need at once. Material cost is just un-real right now.

My main gate, side fences and new wooden gate was installed. They'll come install the main gate operator once I get electrical ran to it.

I got half of my upper deck's stainless steel screws out. They are an absolute pain in the ass. For every 5-6 screws I get out, I'll have a couple that strip out due to how soft the heads are on these screws. I'm trying to remove the expensive deck boards so I can re-use them.

This is the what I'm dealing with all over the house. Someone didn't have a clue as to what they were doing...or just didn't care. Maybe a mixture of both.
