Took a half day today to meet with the appliances subcontractor.

Tile guy got the quartz in for the master shower. He got the tub tile installed and the downstairs shower grouted today.

I got some of the downstairs base installed. I'm going to have to install a shoe moulding to hide the gap.

I got the living and kitchen base installed as well today.

Need some feedback on decking the attic above the garage for some additional storage. My plan is to put insulation between the joist and put some boards down for a flat area to store holiday decorations and crap like that.
7/16 OSB is $8.98 a sheet. My friend is telling me to get 22/32 tongue and grove sub floor sheets for $22.03 a sheet.
Is the 22/32 stuff necessary or will the 7/16 sheet be just fine?

As long as you aren't storing your rock collection or spare engine parts up there the 7/16 should be fine. How big of an area are you talking? 20x20 or a section 16x4? Holiday decorations are usually pretty light yet in large boxes so they should spread the load nicely.

The loft area's I built above the garage door and in the back area of the garage are using 1/2 OSB IIRC. No issues.

All depends on weight. If you build in shelving to help not put all the weight straight onto the joists then 7/16s should be okay. Could also get some of the radiant barrier and use that for decking. I know a few people that have done that and it made a big difference in an envelope around the living space. I plan to do it in my attic. space.

I'm not a fan of exposed OSB for flooring. It'll eventually crumble into pieces from the hot/cold of Texas weather. How long will that take? No clue, it's situational dependent.

Thinnest I'd go is 1/2" CDX (technically 15/32).

You also need to measure your attic access door bc if you have a standard size attic door, you'll have to cut them down to 32"W to fit them through the door and still be on 16"O.C. spacing (if that's how your attic floor joists are framed.

And good job on planning on insulating the attic as well. Any little bit helps with temperature management.

Probably looking at 16x8 section. There is already radiant barrier in the house. Plus lots of insulation above the house. Garage door is also insulated so every little bit helps.

More backyard work today. Finished ripping out the metal landscape edging, got everything weedeated and mowed and bagged. Going to get my dads boom sprayer sometime this weekend and nuke the yard on Monday while the guys are here putting in the foundation piers. Also picking up a yard of dairy compost/topsoil blend from a local place to fill in holes and low spots. Plan is to eventually seed some Zoysia back there but probably not until fall. But I’m not going to mow and weirdest every two days until then so I’d rather just kill it all now and work on enriching the soil until fall and then seed. And it’ll give me time to get the hardscaping done in the side of the house that gets no sun and around the fences as well as get the irrigation system updated without worrying about fucking up the new grass trying to grow.

Picked up a Gorilla Cart to help out with the landscaping projects. Didn’t even realize when I bought it that the handle could be moved out of the way and used as a trailer. Will be nice for the heavier loads.

I have an older (at least 12 years old) Gorilla cart that does similar... it flips around, one side is handle, one side is hitch. I like that newer style better.

Yeah this was quite a bit more money than I really wanted to spend but my parents have an old Gorilla Cart that has the expanded metal sides that flip down to make a flatbed and that thing is still kicking after 15+ years. Hopefully this poly one will hold up just as well.

Added 17 quail to the flock with two more to potentially hatch. Had 18 but 1 didn't make it.

I got the washroom, guest room and hallway trimmed out this past weekend. I got the downstairs bathroom, master closet and girls room trim cut but didn't have the time to install them.

It was way hotter on Saturday than I was expecting (no breeze at all) and I got heat exhaustion (despite drinking a ton of water) and didn't work that much on Sunday.

Got the crew here putting in 12 double piers along the front of our foundation today. They had to tear up most of the flowerbeds in the front of the house. Told us they would replant everything they dug up. Told them don’t worry about it and gave them a trash can to fill up. My wife and her mom and sister were going to tear up most of it and replant it all soon anyway so this is just free demo labor. Also got 15gal of Image sprayed on the backyard since the dogs are at work with my wife today while the foundation work is done. The trailer sprayer was damn nice compared to having to fill and carry around my 4gal backpack pump sprayer four times. Should be getting some rain in the next couple days to water it in. If not, I’ll just do it by hand since I have the irrigation lines torn up back there. Picked up a yard of topsoil/dairy manure compost on Saturday and filled in a ton of low spots and holes in the backyard as well. Eventually we’ll have a yard we actually want to be in.

Ceiling fan wiring questions.
Living room ceiling fan. The house is wired to have a separate fan switch, and a separate light switch. I bought a new fan and take down the old one. It has the green ground, white wire, black wire, and blue wire. So ground, neutral, fan motor, and light.
The new fan only has the ground, neutral, and motor wires. The new fan has a remote to control it along with the light.
In my mind, yes the new fan will still work, but the light switches in the living room wont be hooked to anything since the new fan does not have a wire for the light.
Am I over thinking this and there is a way to hook it all up? Or do I need to look for a fan that has a separate wire for the lights?

It won't work with the switches, yiu will need one that's separate
