That's Mr Asshole to you
Pretty strong storm rolled through last night. Wind, lightening, and heavy rain. This morning the garage door would not open, and discovered the GFI plug in the garage was tripped. I hit the reset button and it tripped again. Unplug everything on the circuit, check the outside plug and its dry as a bone, reset again, and trips in 10-20 seconds.

Do I need to start with replacing the plug? Or should I be looking at something else first?

You more then likely have a water related short somewhere. The chances of that plug randomly taking a shit at that exact moment are pretty slim

I have a GFCI plug in the garage that is for outlets on my patio. I've had extension cords plugged in out there and they got wet and tripped it. Builders like to put randomness into the location of the GFCI plugs and what they control.

Forgot about the plug on the front porch. It had a little bit of water inside the box, and its on the same circuit. Do I need to dry that out and try to reset the plug?

Ran an extension cord from inside to a box fan pointed at it. Will go check it out after I get some work done and drink my coffee.

Yeah that's probably the issue

He should call a plumber.

The videos I have seen of plumbers doing work, I dont think I have the parts to be able to pay the plumber for services.

Plug is still tripping after the fan has been running on it for a few hours. I am going to replace the plug so I can rule that out and is an easy fix.

Point a hair drier at that plug
