Finally had a weekend night where I could do an all night stake out with my buddy for the pigs. We were in the deer stand by 7:30p but the full moon kept everything but rabbits and a racoon. Thankfully at 3:30a this little pig cam out. Since there was one pig and two shooters we hit it with a hammered pair. We planned to shoot the end closest to us.

The guy laid down next to the pig is 5'10" and ~200 lbs. Since only one boar stepped out we both shot it at the same time. I had the right end while he had the left. The 6.5 Grendel went in right at the front shoulder and took out heart & lungs with no exit. There was lots of dark blood out of the bullet hole and lots of frothy pink foam out the snout. The hindquarters was hit right below the hip joint. The 308 Winchester took out the right hip but still did not exit. The boar was a bang - flop - dead right there.

We are talking about possibly entering a couple of competition pig hunts so we are working on "paired shots" to knock a boar down without any chance of losing it. I think this is a good sign lol . We have three more boars out there we are going to work on figuring out their patterns and knocking down too. At least now the fields will not be getting torn up as badly with this bulldozer out of commission.

Had to use the winch to get this beast into the ditch for "natural processing" . The Smittybilt did a good job dragging that sucker over rocks. We had to use a snatch block to use a tree to pull the boar into the ditch as there is no safe way to drag him thru the ditch and then turn around in the 4Runner.

This is the boar we could not get into visual range. If we had dropped him we would have been a strong competitor for two different winning pots. But now he is going to get muscled up for the next competition while passing along those genes. Next time the thermal and suppressor will be involved.

Lot of cleanup going on today. Skid steer finished up the dirt work for the electric company and the shop/RV cover early so he started clearing brush and damming up the draw I'm hunting to have a water hole if it ever rains. Also built a road from camp to where my stand is going to be so I don't have to go out the front gate, around the property, and in the back gate to get to my feeder and stand. Cleaned up around 5 acres around my feeder/stand so far.

Nice feeder there.

Is that y'alls Kuboter skidsteer or rental? Interested in what type of front attachment he was using for clearing out brush. Got any additional pictures of Kubota/attachment? thanks.

That is not our skid steer. Hired a local guy to do all the dirt work. I wasn’t there when it happened so I don’t have anymore info and I’ve cleared the pictures in my camera since then. I should be there this weekend for some hog/coyote slaying and he’s supposed to be back to clean up the tank. If he does, I’ll see what’s all he’s using.

Awesome, good luck with the hunt, it's figgin hot out and we need rain.

I'm supposed to get another rental SS soon, like towards the end of next week, but without ground moisture I will not be able to pull up the Mesquite, and Huisache effectively. I prefer to get more roots and not break the roots off. I may have to just wait till we get some decent rains.
