I normally don’t drink until dinner when hunting. But my cousins and uncle are here and they’re bad influences. So brought a couple yella bellies to the stand. Praise Jesus. View attachment 48901
Correction: Praise Jesus Coldbeers!

My brother wanted to stop by the taxidermist to see my buck/antlers.

Good friend of mine, his text response in regrads to the antlers, and I almost spit beer out, lol.

Last night, kinda F up'd. Door bell kept going off cause a doe was eating at the feeder, I finally got up to turn it off cause I wanted to sleep. 30min later, the hogs show up, just my luck.

I have been using 32" at the top of the back at the front shoulder as a "big pig" measure. If that feeder is the same model my buddy has (looks real similar) then those two should be pretty big pigs .

ASF 600lb feeders is what I have. 600lb Stand & Fill® Broadcast

Those sows are over 200lbs

Okay, those legs are a bit shorter than I was thinking then. The two feeders are similar but the height is about 8" different. Over 200 lbs is a nice size pig for sure.

Good idea to put measurements on feeder, I will have to remember to get a paint pen

I use reflective tape so the IR cameras pick it up. It is easy to see in daylight and shows up really nice in night pictures from the game cameras. We used it as a tactic overseas to mark a known height on high traffic areas so we could more accurately estimate height on people. So instead of stalking people I am using it to stalk pigs now. lol

I am also working on laminated range cards for the different stands and areas we tend to hunt from. Anything I can do to help guarantee an ethical and well placed shot.

Videos from this weekend with the Sightmark. I recorded in 720p instead of 1080p because I only had an 8GB MicroSD and didn't know how much I could fit on it at 1080p. Would have had plenty of room so the videos probably could have been better. Either way, I was happy with the scope. It did everything I needed it to and was clear enough for me to kill the doe even though she acted like I missed. She ran about 40 yards and died at the back of the food plot. Still haven't found a drop of blood on the ground but her heart came out in about 17 pieces. I have 3 types of ammo for my 6.8 and two of them have red polymer tips. Lost track of which magazine had which type in it because the piece of tape came off. Pretty sure she was shot with 110gr V-Max instead of 120gr SST based on the exit wound.

we didn’t get to do any night shooting. But I do have a video or two of just scanning in night mode. I’ll get them up in a bit when I get back from running errands.

How come you didn't take the buck?

The badger is badass!! I wouldn't let anyone shoot it unless they are going to have it mounted. That's what I tell folks here about the bobcats and foxes.

I wanted my cousin to shoot him for her first deer the next morning. But they ended up not sitting at my feeder. I’m okay with him not getting shot and sticking around for another couple years though as he’s one of the best bucks we have currently.

I would have shot the badger for a cool mount if he had come out before the doe. But I knew I was gonna shoot the doe and didn’t want to run her off.
