Morning walk in a small redwood forest park. I was surprised the number of deer we saw.

Swap stuff for a new/repurposed barrel deer feeder to a hanging barrel on a tripod, except this will be a protein feeder.

Well I went out ~42+ miles offshore Snapper fishing. This is the first time I've come home without fish. We caught a bunch of juvenile snapper but oh well it still beat not being at work.

This pen was set up by the prior owner, I'm just now messing with it, gonna feed protien as this location. I'm going to clean the pen just enough for deer to have enough room enter/egress, gonna keep it kind wild in there.

Interesting reading on "self defense caliber vs bear attack". While I am not going to intentionally use a 9mm for self defense against a bear; I may be more willing to use hard cast 45ACP.

That's Mr Asshole to you
If I'm going to be in bear country hiking, or wade fishing, I am taking a wheel gun in 44mag, 454 casull, 480 Ruger, 460SW, or 500SW. Only auto I would take is a 10mm. I have always liked the 454 for some reason, and would like to have that wrist breaker in my collection.

My brother was supposed to get married at this venue in Colorado that was out of town a bit in this canyon that screamed bear or lion country. I joked that all the groomsmen needed leather over the shoulder holsters with 1911 10mm.

Covid happened and they changed venue.

In another forum that is all about mountain hunting the people that live in bear country say the "hand cannons" are popular but often too heavy and left at base camp. The 10mm semi autos seem to be very popular with that group.

Interesting indeed. I shipped my 10mm up this year. Ran into 3 separate bears on the buskin and Russian rivers, didn’t have to fire a shot thankfully

Finally got unpacked and cleaned up from the trip and had a chance to go through some of our pics. Here's a few more highlights from the Kodiak trip.

Awesomeness!

Alaska is really a great place to visit and I plan on going back many times as I can. Summers there are perfect temps, 55-65 degrees and sunrise is 0630 and doesn't set until around 2230! I'm sure the winters aren't great as they have barely any sunlight but I also heard from the locals that Kodiak doesn't get as much snow as up in the tundra since they're right on the water.

We saw all kinds of wildlife as well in addition to the bears, a few bald eagles, a fox, and a some kind of native weasel (which I couldn't get a pic of)

This is my first time catching some octopus, so not sure I am going to cook it or not (never tried it in my life), or maybe give it to a friend/family member, I got two packs like this one
