Those quick 4 hour trips were always good ones. Both of our hunting properties were 4 hours away. Several times a year we left at 3-4am to go fill feeders and work on stands/feeder pens and were home by 6-8pm.

Well, it seems our definitions of 'quick' aren't quite the same. My lower back doesn't care for the 8 to 10 hours in a truck.

Fucking around on Facebook Marketplace this morning and a short trip later (an actual short trip, not a 4hr short trip) I have a trailer. It's already setup for hauling a kayak but I'm going to strip it down and put a new floor on it and set it up to better suit my needs. I want to be able to have a flat floor for hauling my zero turn and general trailer duties. Doesn't need to be a dedicated kayak hauler.

lol, quick trip, 4+ hour drive one way.
Sorry, quick as in I only stayed a couple of days, rather than my usual week down there lol but yeah I had to get that stuff over to Jason and I wanted to get down before it got to a 100°.

I hear ya!

It was 53* this morning, supposed to be 105* plus later this week, way too early for this crap. My cows will be dropping baby steaks soon, hopefully this heat wave doesn't stress them out.

Got up to 101* today, then about 4pm, the wind shifted, looks like the heat advisory has now shifted about 1 county NW of us.
Tomorrow's forecast does not have us under the heat wave, but its still gonna be plenty warm/hot.

I was listening to a hunting podcast the other day where the guys were talking about public land that's taken away every year or have hunting restrictions placed on public land as well as hunting products that getting more expensive every year are pushing hunting into being a boughsie, rich guy hobby.

I can agree with that statement. How many middle class people now can afford land or leases to hunt? Hunting has become such a big money industry that it has started eating itself..

Yup. I haven't bought bow equipment in 8 years cause it's gotten out of hand on prices. It's expensive just to maintain feeders, mine are cut back to 1 second/day. Providing water is the key in these parts.

Glad I don't have to worry about a lease or dealing with family drama on the family farm anymore.

That's Mr Asshole to you
3 or 4 years ago I had my 20 year old bow restrung, new sight, and new rest. Came out to about $350.
I decided that route over a new $1200 bare bow. My old Hoyt still flings arrows over 300fps

I should probably do the same.
