Thats who I was thinking. We had soooo many down here last year I could have shot them in the middle of the bay..

your gonna need a retriever also, not for the beers, but for the down ducks out in the water.

My brother is pretty big into duck huntin, I never picked it up, I would have to shoot a lot ducks to fill a large cooler vs. 1 deer.

A fishing pole with a big ass spoon works too... way better than swimming for them (personal experience speaking )

It just depends on what you want to do. We hunt for the stragglers (tired ducks) and blast them when they flare in. Really you need a few bags of decoys and a duck call. Or you can go out and see where they fly into the channel and blast them from cover. Typically the start of the season is easiest but the longer the season the less ducks you'll get without cover/camo.
You'll just have to practice every year and pick up on where they come in at your area. the more you hunt them, the better you'll get.

I plan on picking up some decoys on clist and building a moveable blind for the boat. I just have no clue which ducks to shoot and which not too.
