yup, and family land passed down with multiple family owners is just as bad.

We lost our lease of 15 years that we poured a shit load of money into at the drop of a hat. The lady who owned it passed it down to her kids. Two of the kids wanted to lease it back to us but the third did not and refused to sell her part to her brothers. So they offered us 400 of the 600 acres we previously had for double the price. With the kicker that the cabin we stayed in was on the sisters 200 acres and we would not have access to it. We offered to take the 400 acres for the same price we had been paying for the last 15 years plus an extra 20% and sign a contract for the next 15 years. One of the brothers agreed to it but the other wouldn't. He told us it was worth more (and it would have been if the cabin was still going to be available) and told us to get our shit and get off. 5-6 years later now and they still haven't managed to lease the place out to anyone and have refused several offers from us to lease it again under the previous offer.

that sucks.

when a family member dies, and when land/wealthy is left for inheritance, it changes people, changes the family members(brother, sisters, aunts, uncles etc), and eventually divides families. This has happened 3 times in my family and 2 times in my wife’s family. I have an Aunt and Uncle that I and other family members pretty much don’t consider them family anymore because some of crap they have done. It’s sad for sure. My wife’s family has an awesome ranch(it’s now for sale for couple mil), her grandparents intended for it to be used by any and all families to enjoy after they died, but it’s the family that makes it a shit show and not worth the stress or have your kids around severe alcoholics, last week we left the ranch early and prior to Thanksgiving, solely because some of those members were coming up that week. We didn’t even visit the ranch for a couple years right after they died, because family members stole have the shit that was up there, and now that it’s for sale, my mother n law insists that we take what we want that nobody has already staked claimed too.

Thats what happened with my uncles section of our family plot. He sold it off, took the $ and ran. He offered it to me first, but was asking way more then I know its worth so I told him to go fuck himself lol

I’m going to inventory the freezer this weekend, but after this morning I think I’m done meat hunting for this season...if that’s the case I’ll start chasing antlers. I have seen lots of bucks but nothing I’d be willing to shoot.

I gotta get out and shoot something. My freezer is empty. Just can't get excited to actually get out and go though.

Went hunting this past weekend and I mercy killed a small doe that had an infected back foot. She could barely walk so I figured a bullet was better than a pack of coyotes eating her alive. I'm not happy with the bullet expansion of the ammo I was shooting so I'm going to switch over to an SST bullet.

All in there was a 9 point, 8 point, spike, 4 does and a turkey that was harvested this weekend at the camp. I kept all the hearts, livers and kidneys to cut up and feed to my dog (I'm freezing them for 3 weeks and will feed small mixed amounts 1x per day).

Out there for a few days and nothing has started eating it. That shows what coyotes and other scavengers think of pigs.

Not sure how nothing had found it yet. The other one had buzzards all over it...Maybe because one was out in an open field and that one ran into the thick woods to die. Who knows

LOL. Every pig I left for dead was pretty much picked clean the next morning....you know, back when I had somewhere to hunt.
Yeah, they usually get eaten up pretty quick where i kill them. Was surprised that one made it 2 nights without anything picking at it

Hog backstraps. They’re so friggin delicious. 7 hours on low, now just took them out (snuck a few bites), shredded the meat, and put it all back in to one pot and covered with BBQ sauce. One more hour to go!
