The Tacoma put in some work today picking up a 2nd blind and fabbed up feeder for the hunting lease. This will give me two blinds an three feeders now. The end goal is each blind will have two feeders to cover. This blind is only 4 feet wide by 5.5 feet long; but, it is insulated really well. If two people are hunting in it then it will be tight; but a single hunter will have lots of room.

The stand is at the lease now. The floor needs to be replaced now as it did not do well in the unloading process. I picked up the SD card from the feeder camera to see what is going on at the feeder. So far liking the results of the feeder.

Herd of the does that comes through at least once a day

Couple of bucks that are already showing 3 to 5 inches of growth. The majority of the other bucks I am seeing on camera so far are doing good to have 1 or 2" of growth.

My dad got a picture of one of the tornadoes near our place on his food plot camera earlier. Was already planning on making a day trip Sunday to check corn and protein levels, check in on my plot, and fix my camera. Guess I’ll see if any of our place got hit as well.

I picked up a used platform stand last week. It was 4'x4' which was fine for one person but I need to be able to take the sammich maker too. I went through the scrap metal and added 16" to the width of the base. Tomorrow night I will redo the rail to match. Overall I cannot complain for $160 initial purchase and scrap metal to expand it. Hopefully get it setup this upcoming weekend and drop a few pigs.

After some issues getting a new tank of shielding gas for the welder I was able to finish up the rails tonight. I hit real quick with some paint to slow down the rust. On the inside shelves I tried to mark red and orange for shooting and no-shooting areas. Hopefully the contrast is enough to see at night. I tried to put a little slope in the side rails so as to shed water when it rains.

Left at 3:45 this morning to head up to Aspermont to fill up feeders and water troughs. Put 9 bags in each feeder and put out a few hundred gallons of water. It’s rained 11” or so in the last two months so the water troughs weren’t bone dry and even one of the tanks was holding a few feet of water. Also apparently we need to add plates under the protein feeder legs. It sunk with all the rain and dumped who knows how much protein. So we’ll take some plates and weld them on the bottom of the legs before we fill it again. Got my camera fixed as well and the food plots have been decimated. They’re really loosing the iron and clay cowpeas. Back on the road headed home by 10am before the heat hit.

Awesome on the rain, sucks for the feeder.

I put out corn yesterday. Damn woodpeckers have destroyed 3 of my cameras and numerous hog lights. I'm gonna have to come up with a fix to keep them from destroying my stuff.

It's been stupid dry here. Another summer of extreme heat and no signicant moisture is in our future for the next 45days. I picked up another load of hay today, just in case we don't get the normal Fall rains.

.22 pellets seems to fix those woodpeckers permanently.

Surprisingly there are a shit ton woodpeckers in South TX. And that doesn't seem like it would make sense because of the mostly brush ecosystem.

This guy needs to eat some lead. He’s just about the only pig we get pictures of these days and he hits both feeders every night and every morning. I should be picking up a new blind on Thursday and after that will be able to do some long sits. Hoping to get some time to go up there for a few days after we get back from New Mexico in a few weeks.

When you have one big boar, other smaller boars and/or sounders will not come around his territory.

I have multiple boar groups all over my lease. They tend to travel in a rotation but there are distinct groups. Even that huge boar I killed a few years ago had a buddy with him near the same size.
