Sad to see skilled labor like masons lose jobs to automation but as everyone in construction knows we have no skilled labor force when everyone's going to college to get liberal arts degree's so it was only a matter of time.... Semi-robotic construction techniques debut at Great Lakes Naval Base

For once I'm glad to see the gubment back some innovation and save me some tax $$. Sad to see it's at the expense of future skilled workers.

We need to automate whatever kids with liberal arts degrees do so they can live in cardboard box's on the streets - then maybe we will see some real change in this country where no one wants to get their hands dirty anymore.

That's where creative attorneys and accounts can help.

I'm sure there is and I also hope there is a special place in hell reserved for the people who forget about morals when doing their jobs. I suspect many of them get kickbacks in some sort.

Total waste of taxpayers money BIG designs twisting Virginia school The Heights

Public schools are getting worse and worse results yet we spend more and more. Money is not the issue. Shitty parents, kids, and teachers are (bad culture IMHO). If other countries can spend 1/3 - 1/2 as much as we do and turn out smarter kids - time to look in the mirror for the issues not throw more money at it.

My nephews couldn't even read their birthday cards Monday night that my mom wrote them because they were in cursive.

and now we know how languages are lost lol

I suspect they will stop teaching writing sooner than later. None of the kids I know type or write ~ They all use speech to text programs.

I feel his pain. Living behind enemy lines your entire life can take its toll on a man. I'm just glad I spend most of my time in PA working with their suburbanites & rural folk lol

I know I say it every year but freaking entire town council & mayor are unopposed every dang year. I can't wait to retire and get involved one day when I have time.

Speaking of school and education. The city I live in has a spending problem. My wife is a teacher in said district so I have a little more view of the crap that funds are used for or not used for.
Welp...5 years ago the city voted yes for a $636M bond. Apparently it was not enough so $966M got put on the table....it passed with 4.3% voter turn out...WTF???? 400k people here and only 7900 vote? Fuck this place and these people.

Midterm elections always have low turnouts. The low turnout is what makes them so dangerous IMO. These issues and elections draw the special interest groups but not the general population so we end up with a small percentage of people making decisions for the group.

Ahhhh the good old spend now and pay double to triple later. Thats always a great idea for taxpayers. When I bought my house 15-16 years ago I looked up the local taxes. They were average. I had no idea we had a HUGE bond out for the new middle and high school they built the year prior to my buying. Since then the taxes have gone up triple digit percentages to cover the bond. Basically I think that bond was the last knife in our citizens backs and now our town is up shits creek w/o a paddle. When the mayor is unopposed and town council is unopposed.... we get screwed. If I knew more about finance I would run for town council. Mayor doesn't pay enough to not take kickbacks or have a second job.

I know we had a long grassroots effort in South Jersey. The "Young Republican's" hit the streets hard. One of my buddy's is the chair. I didn't do anything but vote, but he tried to get me involved. They were out and about for months meeting and greeting people.

I have been reading a lot of articles and digging information up on the current state of the economy compared to the different generations. Currently the younger generations are learning the semi-socialist ideas they were force fed in school are failing them in life. There are a people expecting that voter base to start shifting conservative (both Democrat and Republican) when it comes to fiscal policies. Hopefully this starts happening sooner than later though. The way the current powers are screwing us over is going to be hard to correct.

It has been interesting reading though. A lot of the people mid 40s and younger are already down sizing their expenses and life styles because the jobs and wealth is just not there. Many people are not building the +2000 sq ft houses like our parents because they do not want the expense and upkeep. They are going for smaller houses that they can afford easier. It will be interesting to see how it impacts the economy and politics in the next five to ten years.

About time people wake up and stop letting themselves become slaves to loans. It took me a couple decades to get my head out of my rear and just now I can see the end in sight.

We have the same issue with population. Think this is the first year of decline where less baby's were born. That's not going to be a good trend in the long run even though I feel overpopulation is a huge issue in other areas. Our socialist pyramid scheme's are going to collapse if these trends remain consistent year after year

based on some quick math - we run a deficit of $4,222 per kid k-12. and we are one of the worst school districts in the country lol

Lots of the under 30 crowd are having wait till after their 20s to get married, buy a house (if they do), and have kids. The jobs that you can "build a family" with are getting harder to find or the pay is less (once adjusted for inflation).

I just had some friends get married this past weekend that are in their mid 30's. Super low key small wedding on a strict budget. I had more fun than any of the high budget weddings Ive been to. Had it in a tent at a golf course next to a lake. The fire pit, outside bar, and cornhole sets were by far the most popular. They already have 2 young kids and she is a stay at home mom + they have been together for over a decade already homeowners/mortgage holders. They are "doing it right" from my perspective but I have no kids and have never raised a family so take my opinion w/a grain of salt.

I did find it ironic the amount of tattooed kilt wearing men with red hair and fair skin was the majority and I find it funny their kids were some of the most well mannered kids I have ever seen in public. Meanwhile the clean cut parents that were all dressed to the 9's kids were running amuck. Never can tell a book by it's cover. Screw keeping up w/the heavily in debt Jones's
