That's funny. Texas is #47 worst and California is #48 worst with NY being #49 worst ranked.
The difference in "patriotism" as they define it shows only a 5% difference between voters of red/blue in 2016 so I guess we aren't all that different

.....sarcasm
Military engagement was only worth 25% of the points while civic engagement was worth 75% of the points....so our military is worth less than our normal volunteer citizens? Why? My guess is because only 1% f the US population joints the military, but then one could argue that military engagment should be worth far more because it is so rare. Not write it off like they have. Seems totally backwards to me.
How does one in the military reside in a state w/o a base for them to work in?
How does one formally volunteer in a rural setting? Drive 4 hrs to the city to joint he piece corps?
Did you see how they compiled the numbers and what factors were used? I'd call this junk science made to enrage people and get clicks and not because I'm from NJ. I hate this state. Just because of the facts and slanted system they used. I don;t know anyone who lives in a rural setting and doesn't volunteer a TON informally - thats how they live. One neighbor helping the other. No ones logging time or formally volunteering.
Same could be said of my volunteer efforts the past few years with a veterans org. I document nothing yet spend hrs upon hrs going to meetings up until last year when everything imploded.
The average peace corps volunteer is 28 years old so I pray that they are working a day job to support our country as well as volunteering for the corps...WTF.....they only have 7,300 active members and they used this data to compare it to over 330 million citizens.... whats their sliding scale of their numbers being correct when they use such a small amount of data. The location of their HQ could sway these numbers enormously just by the volunteers living near it and seeing their local marketing or offices or hearsay from friends.
Yep - total junk science IMHO
