Damn! I used to work with a guy who had a huge scar on his arm. He said he was working in some sort of glass place and a large sheet of glass fell from above and sliced through his arm somehow. Also took it off.

PPE is key in a house full of razor blades but nothing will stop a pack of jumbo's from crushing you (packs of multiple sheets of glass 130" x 204"). Our guys have hard hats, steel toes with metatarsal guards, Kevlar "sleeves" that go from bicep to wrist, rubber coated Kevlar gloves, and aluminum riveted Kevlar shoulder guards + if your cutting glass you wear a Kevlar or leather front bib. No one can wear anything with exposed metal or rivets (jeans/etc) from waist down. All that stuff scratches the glass so we provide pants and shirts to our guys along w/laundry service. Oh and the all important safety glasses for all and respirators for the guys grinding glass so they don't breath in the shards "as much". Before we installed AC this summer guys would literally drop in the summer heat. Our two tempering furnaces are on opposite ends of the warehouse so it essentially turned the entire warehouse into a 120* + high humidity hot box.

Now Houston is utilizing EB-5 financing to build some ugly ass buildings... WTF is this country coming to where we need to give visas to immigrants so we can build more gentrified housing here? http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/...opers-break-ground-on-luxury-residential.html

Maybe it's just me, but if we slow down immigration we won't need as much housing thus no need to get their money to build more housing.

Don't get me wrong Ill gladly sell them some overpriced glass for their ugly buildings, but Ill feel dirty taking their money.

No matter how shitty you think your day is - it's better than this poor guy Man crushed under 24,000 pounds of shattered glass | St George News

Crushed by 24k in glass then it took 45 minutes to get him out from under it without shredding him. This guy is very lucky to be alive. My heads always on a swivel at our factory......
My uncle fell through a hole in a glass floor on a construction site and he caught himself on the glass edges before someone could pull him up. It sliced up his hands and fingers so bad that he has limited use out a few fingers. His hands are just a mass of scars.

Sadly falls through glass on job sites seem to happen every week. Half the time they are covered up so you wouldn't even know you're walking somewhere you shouldn't be. I would imagine the GC/Tenant/Owner/Sub got a huge fine from OSHA for not having the window cordoned off and your uncle got compensated ~ that's typically what happens. My rule for everyone inside/outside my industry is to never walk on glass - ever. From the top looking down you have no way to tell if the glass was 3" thick and made up of multiple plies so you can walk on it or just a typical skylight with lami glass as thick as your windshield in it.

Yep! I agree. Same with metal plate covering or wood coverings. You never know how it was built.

And American media is focusing on Donald Trump. Shouldn't Secretary Clinton be doing something right now?
