Tough being a Fireman in Southern California. How do they survive?
2011–2015 salaries for Huntington Beach | Transparent California

When I see free or preferential treatment as though they gave their life on 9-11 it makes my eyes roll. Sorry but take a few bulleta from a Jihadi and you'll earn my reapect.

If you want to get real sick to your stomach compare names of the fire fighters to some of the LEO's. I'd bet a few overlap. I know a few local double dippers in my area.

I like how they change the persons name for each year to make tracking harder.

Welp - gas is well above $2 a gallon here for the first time in ages. From one of the lowest gas taxes to one of the highest started this morning for NJ. Added $0.23 per gallon. Still cheaper than PA supposedly. The gubment sales pitch to the populous on the radio this morning is that we may spend more at the pump, but we will save more than that in wear and tear on our cars/trucks. Gubment says our roads are going to be fantastic now. No more pot holes etc. lol

That's all 100% complete utter bullshit if you ask me. NJ spends more money per mile of roadway than ANY other state, because our construction practices are so corrupt. Now we just gave them a bigger slush fund to steal from.

Makes me sick to think about it $2 million a mile: Why roads cost so much in N.J.

Only way to make myself feel better is by thinking "at least i'm not in CA"

and that's just what they report. I'm sure their is more money tied into our roads that they hide somehow. All I know is if you have a car in this area, good luck avoiding pot holes and huge seams in the road. Our roads are more set up for long travel suspension. No idea how the motorcycles do it. Roads seemed much better when I was younger and had my scooter or maybe it's just my perception.

They are resurfacing a section of a residential street in my neighborhood. They are also "fixing" what appears to be already perfectly good bridges (maybe 12 years old) all to the tune of $800k. Street is maybe 3/4 mile long.

Damn your roads are cheap 75000 a mile is unheard of here, approx cost for a new road here is 120 a linear foot excluding any utilities that need to be dealt with

Well that is just for retopping with 4" of asphalt. We really need to have the roads dug out and rebuilt from the drainage and base up to the top.

One of my good friends is the number 3 guy for a huge paving company (they built the new toll roads around here and do 60% of most other road projects.). I'll ask him what the average cost is.

He said the project he is on now is 7 miles for $590 million! He said it really depends on what kind of road you want and soil conditions.

From him.
Asphalt is around $80 per ton. A road 12' wide one mile long is 775 tons. $65k just for asphalt. So earthwork, drainage, etc. that's another 50k. If the road is 24' wide it's $130k alone

Tack on mobbed up union labor, a couple political hand shakes, and walla..... 2 million a mile with one guy working and ten standing around. Or better yet - get so high up in the mob you get the no show job so you don't even need to get out of bed.

... and the amount of political contributions. My dad was in the oil biz. When ever TX guys would suggest to pay to play he essentially would sponsor any Little League team(s) or pay for anything that could be eaten (dinners, baquets, etc). His dad was a G-Man who was famous for putting anyone that suggested a bribe in jail.

China and the WTO........ Fan meet shit

"While China has no natural competitive advantage in aluminum production, he said the Chinese government has put billions into the industry via low-cost loans and grants, as well as artificially low prices for coal. Because of continued government intervention in the economy, Chinese prices and costs do not reflect the operation of market forces,”

Fuck China.

I voted today. Went to one early voting station and the line was wrapped around the building to the backside.. at least 200 ppl in line. I said "Fuck that".. drove about 10 miles to another and I literally walked up and voted after handing them my drivers license!

Good for you. My town is small and I only have one option - the local old folks home. It gets crazy so I usually try to get there early when they open to avoid the clusterfu*%. Maybe Ill try to vote early this year. Ill see if they are open this weekend.
