They do that crap all the time. Both sides know they won't fire on each other. We do the same to them, probably a lot more frequently than they do to us. It's just media hype to sell ads.

I'm amazed international waters are so close to shore.

In other news FU China... China to check capacity-eliminating efforts in cement, glass industries
About dam time they stopped the glut. Time to get glass and aluminum prices up where they should be so Merica can better compete with their slave wages. I don't believe it, but if it's worth putting out fake news maybe someday they will slow down.

I'm not offended, I just refuse to try to explain things to anyone who becomes petulant. I don't mean that as an insult but when you start saying things like "Now are you are claiming that...your knowledge of the law is superior to that of the three justices who heard the case" the conversation is devolving and communication is breaking down.

In my honest opinion you will not be able to see things "from the other side." I've tried, you have too many biases (myself included). And while I understand your rig worker comparison, I also don't think you have to be an "expert" in order to speak with authority. I don't need a 7 yr degree to know bullshit when I hear it. Especially in the internet age where I can easily do research...hell, I can research things on my phone on the fly these days. The point being, I do think I could go tell a rig worker he is doing his job wrong. What if he sucks at his job? I see a problem, research a solution, and go tell him how to fix it.

So I won't read the opinion by the judges, because those judges aren't good at their jobs. That circuit has an 80% turnover on their opinions. If 80% of the tax returns I worked on needed correction I wouldn't expect people to trust me on tax matters.

We started the conversation on the constitutionality of the EO, after the halt was stayed you used the opinion as fact in your argument, but I don't accept their opinion as fact. Especially when I continually provided evidence that the EO itself was constitutional.

I don't consider myself a "staunch conservative" or a "Progressive liberal" or even a democrat or republican. I vote my faith first (I'm against abortion), my ideals second (I support the 2nd Amendment), and what makes sense to me third (the rising tide of fundamentally extreme Islamists needs to be halted). My ideals have changed since I've gotten older, had kids, and started paying taxes instead of getting refunds.

A few others and I have shared life experiences but that does not mean a hill of beans either, you have great points and as you know your probably waisting your time.

I'm just going to throw raw burgers under my neighbors tents ~ Figure their screams should make for a good alarm lol

In reality Ive got some pepper spray made for bears and some early warning motion activated devises for the surrounding woods. Also hook up a LED worklight with 30' of cord to my car and aim it on our tents - god forbid one of us gets attacked I can hit the auto start and it comes on with the car so we can see whats going on.

Calmness achieved lol. I'm just saying dividing behavior is in opposition of a "great" America.

Now, totally unrelated, I keep hearing religion thrown around (not here necessarily but other informative source) and it got me thinking. I'll ask you guys to help me out since I've read maybe a paragraph of the Bible. In attending young life and church with friends, my take away message was that God was a accepting person that wanted people to act like Jesus and help the ones need. Is that correct or did I get that wrong?

Hell yeah! Enjoy the weekend!

Very true. We just need to make another Australia and ship of the extremes of both sides to that continent and let them have their own little weapons-free battle lol.

Well you of course are entitled to your opinion. I have a couple questions but feel free to not answer them. I added bold in your text and cut out some stuff to make it easier to find.

Like I said, feel free to not answer any of these. Don't give up too quick on discussions about this stuff though! If we want our country to get back on track we are going to have to blur this great divide that has become existent. Our conversation may be small but that is where it begins!!

Anyways. It is almost the weekend and I am stoked! Hope everyone has a great one lined up.
I cut out all your questions just to save space, I'll answer below:
  1. I think you understood my point, you can understand the argument and hear their reasoning, but it won't make logical sense to you because of your inherent biases. I understand the reason why liberal progressives want to do some of the things they fight for but I see the fallacies in their logic so I don't really "see things from their side." so to speak
  2. This was a Ben Shapiro quote for levity. It is simply a statement that arguing from an authoritative standpoint doesn't hold up. Just because I'm not perceived as an expert on something because I don't have a bunch of letters after my name doesn't make my facts any less true.
  3. This is a relativistic statement. There are absolutes in life, these are what I'm talking about. If I see you trying to loosen a screw by turning it clockwise I will tell you that you are doing it wrong. That's not my opinion, its a fact.
  4. Not sure what the question was here? If it was in reference to our conversation lately then I most definitely identified the problem (The court claiming the EO was unconstitutional) and supplied ample research to back up that claim (see previous posts)
  5. This was my opinion, followed by a fact. SCOTUS overturns 80% of the decisions it hears from the ninth circuit.
  6. See answer 5. The statistic applies only to the opinions that are heard by SCOTUS, 8 out of 10 are overturned.
I won't give up, but I will warn you that I answer these questions on breaks at work. As the April due date gets closer and work becomes more hectic I will not be able to answer as often.

Oh boy, that statement on its own is correct...with lots of caveats subject to interpretation by different denominations. If you want a uniform opinion on what Catholics believe, I would suggest the YOUCAT.

I thought Young Life was for high school teens? Are you volunteering?

Lol young life was waaay back in the day. I had a friend that asked me to go and I was interested in learning about religion because my parents never pushed it on me. It was fun and all but (now I know it was highschool kids) the people were so fake. They split up the room into 3 categories of 1. Full on supporters ready to devote their life, 2. People that were about ready to devote their life, and 3. People who were unsure and wanted questions answered. As I sat alone in "my section" the other two just judged the shit out of me, it felt so unwelcoming that it kinda killed my interest. These same people I saw doing cocaine off a toilet the weekend before and blowing dudes and banging it out at another house party. I talk with friends of mine that are religious and always ask question, it does interest me. Thanks for the link! I will check it out.

Score!

Damn, what is he up to these days? I have not heard anything outta him in forever.

Man I have no clue what he has been up too, last we heard he was a nearly wed again few years back
