Perfect timing.... We just got VOIP phones at work and one of the guys keeps telling me he hears the conversation that are had in my office when he is in our VP's office. He's said it to me twice now. I know our IT guy so I asked him and he had know knowledge of it. Thats said it's illegal to do so in NJ and no one in upper management would get IT involved because he's not in the family like the 8 siblings who run the company. My question is - how hard would it be to listen in on people with VOIP phones? I would think it's easy peasy.
If the programming allows it, you can do it.

My sister was working at this company years ago and was fighting with her boss. She walked into his office to talk to him about the issue and saw that he had a laptop on his desk next to his main computer that was showing what she was doing in real time on her work computer. She saw the laptop at the same time her boss realized he left it out and my sister looked at him and said "I quit".

All on the software side. Some of the VOIP systems I have worked with it is as easy and double clicking on the extension and selecting the connection mode you want. It is easy to record the call for "training and quality control" purposes.

To make myself feel less paranoid ~ if they were recording illegally makes no sense they wouldn't be keeping track of my typing and if that was the case I'd probably be fired years ago lol

It's funny because I'm actually reading "Ghost in the Wires" by Kevin Mitnick right now. I'm halfway through it and it's really good. Pretty crazy how good of a social engineer this guy is...

Most states have different laws in regards to what is and is not legal for employees to record video and video/audio on site. I run into these laws pretty often at when installing cameras for customers.

I know for sure that video with audio is illegal here. Not so sure about just audio without video - especially at work. Either way I work my ass off and don;t talk smack on my company so.... the only way I'd be worried is if they complied info just waiting for the day when I'm no longer useful. Then they would have all the ammo they needed to cut the cord - not like you can;t fire anyone in NJ for any reason anyway. We have little rights.

My company is very security consious - I think it dates back to when he had some gal that wanted his money and accused him a sexual harassment. There are cameras EVERYWHERE. I would not be at all surprised if there are keystroke readers on the computers that people use in the offices. I have a laptop and the riskiest thing I did was trying to shop for a magazine and all gun sites are blocked!!! lol

On that same note, on FB I have had alot of FB requests to be friends. In the last 3 days I received 414 requests. I look through their posts and if they don't look fake - and MANY do, I usually friend them. I get all kinds of spammy msgs including offers to sell me weed but today a fucking guy sends me a picture of his hard penis. REALLY? WTF?

Nope, WW1 topped that. 60,000 pounds... unless you are talking about a single bomb in itself.

Anyone see anything about the school shooting in California? Probably not since it was a black guy in a gun free zone with a stolen gun in the state with the strictest gun laws. It completely kills the anti-gun argument that more laws equal a safer society.
