Most these bills is because of lack of parenting, the laundry fairy says that math teachers have to teach basic's of budgets/credit use/checking accounts and retirement type accounts.

Common sense is not common these days. I think it's a great idea and should save lives. Should also save taxpayers money if the idiots behind the wheel stop getting shot up for doing stupid shit they shouldn't be doing. As with any class it's up to the students to absorb it so we shall see if it does any good. I know when I get pulled over in friends cars they do nothing like I do when I get pulled over. That's why some of them get pulled over for stupid stuff and then they get hammered with more tickets. I typically get pulled over for more egregious issues but walk away with either no ticket or it's reduced. Same equates to getting shot or arrested. If you come across with respect and the officers feel safe your less likely to get ticketed or shot. Come across like an asshole and make the officer feel uncomfortable or unsafe........well you're a moron

Teachers have to go to a end of year board, show documentation why the student failed and show documentation what the teacher did to intervene and try and help the student get to a passing grade.

I suspect that some teachers probably just end up 'passing' the student to avoid ridicule from the district

IMO - Then they are in the wrong job and should be removed. Teaching the people who will run the country next is pretty freaking important.

The level of inadequate parenting is phenomenal. I have dealt with and deal with currently all sorts of delinquent children and some people should not be parents...

Need a license to drive but anyone can have a kid and raise them to be a terror to the surrounding community. I think most of our issues within the country are due to overpopulation and lack of proper parenting so my opinions will always be swayed.

Funny thing about being connected.... everything's socially engineered to get you addicted.

When I took all forum's and fakebook off my phone the first couple months was rough when I was at a dead stop in traffic or bored at home. I'd reach down for my phone and then remember I deleted everything. Now a year or two later and I pity the fools who spend their lives looking down. Getting harder and harder to find people to hang out with because I like a good conversation or some sort of activity. Seems everyone just wants to get together so they can be anti social and play with their phones.

My older nephew refuses to go camping anymore because I have a "no phones rule" after he spent our last trip with his head buried in his phone. Luckily the younger one isn't "hooked" as bad and he still enjoys nature. When did life not become enough that we all needed to start being "rewarded" for being special. Reminds me of giving trophy's to the fat kid who didn't even play in the game. I'd really like to go back to the flip phone days. Man I feel like the grump old guy....

While this kind of stuff keeps me employed I'd like to see some budget friendly things done instead. You shouldn't take one freak incident by one mentally insane person and use it to spend billions throughout the country. You lock the schools down then all the next guy has to do is enter with a student. Hows that billion going to stop that? So many ways to defeat security the money needs to be spent on things that will actually help. Not so sure BR glass and doors is the key to solving the issue here.

So since this is our news/debate section, here is something. I am sure everyone remembers the girl who texted and persuaded her bf to kill himself via asphyxiation. Judge is set to rule on this (she chose no jury of course ) today. If he charges her with involuntary manslaughter then this will be precedent that actively urging someone to commit suicide is a crime. Thoughts? I think she should be convicted for what she did. Now it should not be illegal to tell someone "fuck you, go kill yourself" but when someone is in dire need of outside help and all you do is egg them on to do it; that is criminal to me.

And how will this affect people who "watch" someone commit suicide on social media and do NOTHING about it...will this open them up to civil or criminal litigation as well?

I think there is a difference between watching and actively convincing. Are you aware of the facts of her case? In short, over a span of days, she was texting him to kill himself. When he told her he did not want to she told him he needed to do it and essentially do not be a pussy.

Suicide, in the end is the persons personal choice. If it remains just that, if someone watches, I see that very differently then a person influencing the person's choice to actually kill themselves.

Suicide is murder, the only reason we cannot convict the offender is because they are...dead. If I watch someone murder someone (even if it is themselves) and do nothing...I consider that an accessory to a crime. Just my opinion
