I lobe you guys. I also lobe my Sammy maker. On that note, her mom just got home from another surgery for cancer. I'm beginning to think Agent Orange may have caused it.
The VA finally admitted that there is a direct connection between exposure and cancer.

I grilled food at my old apartment complex next to an older Gentleman and I asked him about his service in the Marines in Viet Nam (Hill 88). He asked how I knew he was a Marine (high & tight with a playboy tattoo on his arm made it an easy guess
). He has survived two different cancers and it's currently fighting the agent orange cancer as well. He had his teeth knocked out by an AK47 and was shot through both legs (he killed that guy by the way).
Tough old sombitches from that war are just now really getting into the worst of it. One of the nursing homes I do work at has a Nam Vet that lost a foot over there and is now losing his eyesight due to exposure to different chemicals. The VA is "treating" it through lots of pain meds and some IV meds.

As I may have mentioned, I lost 7 friends last year. I have one friend that was definitely effected by Agent Orange and he has battled 3 or 4 cancers - HE IS ONE STRONG MINDED SUMBITCH and he knew of my losses and he said, I am sorry but you are not getting rid of me if I can help it. One time I called him just to tell him I love him - he hates that but I do it anyway.
He had just got back home from the hospital and he picked up the phone. Mistakenly, I asked him how he was doing. He said, "I'm doing great but my wife can't stop complaining. Last night she asked me to turn off the lights. I did. Then she yelled at me, 'Turn off those lights!' He responded, 'I turned off the lights, that's just me glowing. Damn, I've had 98 treatments, I can help it that I glow!!!'Man that guy is so strong!!!
His last was just a few weeks ago and it's Lung Cancer. I went over to visit him and he let me in and we were having a good conversation but I could tell he was not as confident this time. I asked him what was up and he said he thinks they got all of the lung tissue with a good margin but he woke up that morning feeling something that felt like a hard cucumber in his side. I find out more tomorrow.
Regarding my sammich maker's mom, she was not in the service. She and her husband were just trying to raise her children (then 5 later 3 more) and their pigs. She too is one strong person too! If your so inclined, your prayers are appreciated.

The VA was giving him a ton of pain pills & meds until his wife who is an RN took him off of everything. She said they were giving him medications that you are NOT supposed to go together. They stopped going to the VA and started going to MD Anderson which they attribute as to why he's still alive.

The VA is still quietly setting lawsuits where the doctors were either under board review and still practicing or flat out barred from practice and the VA was using them. While the VA has improved over the last few years that is not saying much. I wish our government "leaders" had to be treated at the VA. Shit would change fast.

I don't know if you saw that story about people in LA outraged for a transit cop trying get this 18 yr old to get her feet off of the seat in front of her.
