if we swap the word "union" with the word "God" do you feel the same?

Not trying to be a dick, just stating the obvious. Clearly the union put themselves in the same place usually reserved for religions as a marketing tact.

To the godless it's funny, but I can see how it could be offensive to believers.
No I don't. I am not the most religious guy so let me put it to you another way to compete with your fantasy that it's a fairy in the sky.

I know how you don't like 'God' but many interpret God as a collective wisdom of the souls of people. Something that they can judge themselves - am I doing the best for the collective. In my opinion EVERYONE has a God - it may be their money, their porn, their group of close friends - Bros before hos -, themselves.

I'd have less of a problem if it said God - because religions may have their agenda but I think we would all agree - hopefully - that:

  1. We should be clear of the values that we have and act in a way that is congruent with those values.
  2. Don't create some work around to your own values thinking that you can still be true to yourself.
  3. We shouldn't believe that if things don't go our way, we should throw out our values - unless we have fucked up values.
  4. Know the core (not the layers above them) values you have and keep a time and place sacred for reminding you what is most important to you and to keep your faith that you are loved and appreciated by many although they may not show it.
  5. Take care of your parents
  6. Don't kill people if you can avoid it.
  7. Don't screw your best friend's wife.
  8. Don't steal shit.
  9. Tell the truth
  10. Don't fill your head with the idea that you're going to screw your best friend's wife.
(I wish I still had that original, modern interpretation of the 10 Commandments I posted in here before the big crash).

And then know that you will fuck up and that it's okay as long as you do your best not to fuck up again and do your best to make things right.
So if putting your guiding principles above others, yes I am way okay with that. :)

Remember, I'm a guy that the first time I read the bible from cover-to-cover, I did it only to argue with the guy yelling at everyone on campus.

Life is long and the human condition affects us all!

And let me take it one step further.

How would you feel if a group of 10 semi-unknown to you came over to your home...

And then they erected a temporary structure around your truck. They were people of all walks and skills. One was a top Toyota mechanic. One was an aircraft mechanic. One was a barber. One was a hooker. One was a recovering meth addict that had been clean for about 2 years and now has a mobile detailing business. One made the best food you could imagine. Another had no real marketable skills but was a humor cat that could keep even the most bitter, cat owning single girl smiling! lol

They then, 'prayed with you.'

Their prayers were taking action on getting your truck up, running and polished. Although it took a couple of weekends and a few Wednesday nights, your truck never looked better!

Afterwards you offered them money, beer, prostitutes, cocaine, but they wanted none of it. Their pay came from somewhere else. It came in the form of, "...I feel so good that we were able to help this soul get his truck back on the road and giving him the smiles it used to."

They were serving god. :)

Would that offend you?

Yep, if you look at the link I posted it has a map of the Texas grid. Fat east Texas is not under control as well as El Paso area.

I just remembered that there are still several coal powered plants, like the one that feeds San Antonio, the power may be on its own grid, but the coal resources to make the power comes from Wyoming and I bet the other coal power plants receive resources from out of Texas as well.

We monitor coal plants. And yes, most coal comes from out of state. IIRC the University of Illinois had its own power plant that was separate of the grid. There maybe places like that... but I highly doubt its a major city with its own grid. You can see we cover most areas in Texas.

I appreciate your honesty. Most would say it's the same, and lie.

I do not dislike God nor any particular religion ~ My issues are what people do to others "in his name". I would say dislike them all equally.

I try not to think my beliefs are superior to others regardless of what they believe in. Key word is try. Most people think "their way" is best and that's just human nature.

That said if I was behind closed doors I'd think some of them were coo coo for cocoa puffs and wasting their time with their prayer circle, but either way I'd be appreciative. In the end if it helps you and you need it to be a better person I think you should stick with it.

I'm not offended by believers or stories.

You are missing the point and getting caught up in little shit. Like I said before, Universities are another example.. so yes military installations.. maybe a large factory or plant might as well. But for 99.999999% of the rest of America there are 3 grids... East, West and Texas.

I need to figure out how the last quarter was worse for me financially than the quarter after 9/11 or in 08* when the bubble burst. Holy cow did my 401k's just take a bath the last quarter. Basically wiped away all the money I made the past 10 years prior. Would of made more investing in Delaware license plates. They were good for 10% increase over 20 years and I think that was 5% over average SP500 returns over the same timeline. There goes another few years tacked on before I can retire. Think I need to stop opening up my statements. Makes me wonder how bad it's really going to get. Might just start digging holes and burying gold

If anyone could ever say any good comes from that bad scenario I must say that instance is the first thing that comes to mind when my co-worker tells me we should open up our own shop. While I don't know how it feels exactly I can empathize how devastating it can be. BTW - great job keeping your head above board while all that craps going on.
