I've watched a few YouTube vids where the mechanics were using them and they seemed like a good idea.

yup, cause if you happen to strip that mounting hole on the hub, you have to tac weld the stud.

for many years I would just used a larger nut and then stack 2 or 3 washers, then tighten to seat the shoulder, most of the time that works, but one time it did not.

just sacrifice one lug nut on the end for hammering, after it breaks loose, unscrew lug nut and move nut on to the next, but having brass hammers would be nice to have, something I don't own.

I have a set of these for the installation of the studs, prevents the torque from stripping out the shoulder and allow the lug to tighten and not rotate the stud/shoulder.

I have a Gearwrench or Tekton version on this. It's doesn't work on Tacoma drum brakes unfortunately because it's too wide. I still had to use 3 or 4 thick washers and a spare lug nut. I was really excited to use it too lol

Sorry I should've clarified that I have the Gearwrench or Tekton version. I edited my post above. I'm on my second cup of coffee and it's kicking in finally. Didn't get much sleep last night.

Gave up fiddling around with the original carb on my snowblower today and just ordered a cheap replacement tonight. I rebuilt it a few yrs ago, and today the rebuild kits are more than the carbs + the bowl is rusty anyway.

Ive gotten all my money out of this thing anyway + who knows when it will blow up. POS Tecumseh motor's only rated for 125hrs of use I I exceeded that the first season I bought it in 03

Wheel stud installation on the yota.

Place two 7/16 grade 8 washers, then standard wheel nut, and impact.

I’m going to get 2 more wheel nuts and throw a couple wheel studs/nuts to carry as spares.

I love and hate when you guys post pics of your toolbox drawers.

They are always so neatly organized and make me think "Oh, I need that..."

Same. Especially since the key wasn't removed before shipping it to GA and subsequently broke off. I can't keep my kids out of mine. I'm lucky to find the tool I need when I need it.

I have the tool tray organizer things so its easy to keep straight after you use a tool. Now on top the tool box.. totally different story.

Mine's pretty organized because 95% of the tools I need are the same everytime and they stay on the work bench. Everything in my toolbox pretty much never gets used.

tonight's after dinner activity..... swapped carbs & primer bulbs, purged the fuel line, added two mesh filters, and a shut off

see if fires up tomorrow....shut off sits lower than I'd like so that could be a gravity issue

also swapped hub pins before it broke....prob not a good idea to put a shear bolt meant to break back in its place but it fit

My tool box stays organized, I put everything back after each project. And similar to like Sean said, top of tool box and shop/garages kinda stay messy.

it's alive!

started right up on the first crank (electric start)
took about 2 minutes to warm up and idle until I could take it off choke
idled it for about 5 minutes then checked to see if it would handle a load so I took it for a drive w/the auger on
no leaks yet and the fuel shut off and it's location works. takes a little over a minute to use up whats in the line

gotta run out for a few hrs.

when I get back we will see how a true cold start acts. previously it was started at about 68* (took it outside just to start). now it will get a good chill at 32* cause I left it out.

if it's running good Ill drain the oil and see how it looks. if thats good Ill tune up/tighten the belts/chains and lube it all up good. also gotta take out the quick fix shear bolts for actual shear bolts. save the quick ones for when it's -5* and snowing out and I don't feel like meddling with sockets/wrenches.

she doesn't look bad for 13yo. grease is old for sure lol pretty sure the scrub downs and oil baths before storage are the only thing keeping it from rusting away
