You could. Never seen anyone use a wedge to make kindling, but there's a first for everything. Would be pretty hard to balance the wood, hold the wedge on top of it, and hit multiple times to create small pcs. Just use a hatchet and skip the wedge all together. Then we are back to chopping off fingers. For the people who must have it all or heat with wood - I think it's a neat tool. Doubtful I'd ever buy one.

Got one of those for my Pops last year when they were on sale. They work well, pricey for such a small piece but I sometimes you can't put a price on safety or convenience
