Honestly sounds like a manual measuring wheel or rangefinder would be best for that situation. For $68 you can get a cheap wheel.
Contractor 12-1/2" Measuring Wheel, ft/in

We do have a professional surveyor in here as a member so hopefully he can chime in. This is kinda out of my range lol

It would be very frustrating trying to "hit the target" with a laser measurer like these by yourself at trhe distances you want. I know this because even the slightest shake of the hand can cause drastic movement across a room - let alone trying to hit a post at hundreds of feet. Biggest issues Ive found while using these is steadying it and making sure the spot it hits is int he right location. Also most shot red lasers and they are difficult to see in daylight.

Maybe you could have someone hold and walk with a large target like a sign sized pc of cardboard? Then you double your labor...

LD220 accuracy: 1/8" +/- over 100', 2 year warranty, IP54, does area/sqft, runs on 2 AAA

LD250 accuracy: 3/32" +/- over 165', 2 year warranty, IP54, does area/sqft, runs on 2 AAA

That said Ive used mine to measure farther....think around 300' before it errors out. Ill have the new one next week so I can test it.

Heck the laser reaches out thousands of feet but will not measure that distance. Ive lit up my local water tower and thats about 1/4 mile away.

there ya go!

derp... I used string lines to layout all my long runs of landscaping beds and plants this year. in conjunction with a 25' tape measure and rebar to mark centerlines.

for long runs where measurements are needed to establish corner locations I'd grab a wheel though (based on my very limited land survey knowledge).

tried using my laser measure'r when I was laying out my berry patch but gave up after not being able to see it and used string lines pulled long so I could measure/square off them. I even had clamped a 11 x 17 clipboard to the post and could not find the laser

the head exploding would be the frustration of hitting a target with one of those lasers.... unless you "bore sighted" it to a rifle prior lol

i can see the gunsmif meme in my head now...

got tired of my brush falling into my red solo cup then the brush getting filled with paint or fall onto the ground then need to be cleaned.

Thought this was a pretty cool tool.

you could also just add a magnet to your existing stuff, but Ive always used solo cups. They suck

For less than $3 it should pay for itself today in labor savings and hopefully at the end I am wearing less paint lol

magnet on it is almost too strong that holds the brush out of the paint

they make a pro version thats got disposable inserts for super quick clean up along with a adj strap handle for your hand but I'm on a budget and Ill just use latex in this for easy clean up

I have some, they work great. Mine have liners you toss when done so your not scrubbing the container each time. Got them at Lowes

I was looking at the old style USB tops for the batteries and read through the comments saying how bad the old ones sucked (only one USB/low power/drains batteries - no smart circuitry).

Then I started looking for new tech and came across it.

Ill wait to see if the price drops and if they start catching stuff on fire before I buy one, they are only available for pre order right now anyway. Supposed to ship Dec 2nd.

Nice adapter. I am not a quick buyer at $100 but if I get a coupon or gift card I would grab one. The other issue being those large batteries to maximize the use are not cheap either. So that would add to some of the expenses.
