Looks like a Cat5e cable. I think it will hold up to trailer light voltages okay

I think so also, its low voltage and just a few LED lights. I discovered that some of the manufacturers of 4 wire don't even use copper, I ran into that last night on some of the trailer 4 wire left at the farm, it was near impossible to strip the wire.

My magnetic lights took a beating yesterday on the farm trailer, made 2 huals to the dump and 1 hual to metal recycling. After I took all the load straps off, I moved the lights from top of the fenders, down below the rail and I thought they were out of the way, but the dude operating the excavator was batshit crazy and grabbing up stuff and slinging the metal around, he somehow snagged one light and ripped it off and all 4 wires broke.

That's frustrating for sure

There is a reason he is operating an excavator at a recycling plant, probably a dipshit.

Got a temporary fix to get this farm trailer home, after the recycling center ripped off my magnet lights. Next is a whole new trailing wiring, new tires and new front ball coupler, still decieded on which one to get.

Finished up the trailer today, to make room to work on a friend's truck tomorrow. New wiring with some excess cat 6 wire from a neighbor, repurposed the tail lights from the deer blind, and put on a new jack.

Now just need a new trailer between all those new parts. I am curious how the Cat6 holds up though.

What I removed was an 20yr old extension cord that used prior, lol.

I think the cat wire will be just fine, it's thicker guage wire than regular trailer wire. On the trailer plug end, I pushed it through some fuel line for protection, heat shrink all connections and slid tubing on other potential chaffing areas.

I am mainly curious how well it holds up to use. I know from experience installing infrastructure cabling that it is easily broken through repetitive movements and/or bends against harder objects. It sounds like you took a lot of precautions to protect the cable from obvious cuts but time will tell how well it holds up to ranch life. I hope it holds up well because Cat cable is easily ran and I have a couple boxes still that could be used on a trailer build too.

Well it's made better than the trailer wiring, I have 2 rolls of that stuff and it's Chinese crap.

Prior owner never secured the board ends, I flipped that one over that was warped pretty good and reattached it, used jack and cross beam for downward pressure on some of the boards.
