What have you done to someone else's ride lately?

Well I will have to find the smallest flux core wire I can; but I do not see me getting setup for gas anytime this summer. I'll go low and slow plus keep the welds apart a good distance.

Do you have a 220 outlet available?

BabyMax
Yes; but not real close to the 4Runner. I am currently debating using this as an excuse to upgrade welders and get a 220 extension cord.

You're more than welcome to use my setup if you want. Just bring a trailer and we can roll the whole cart up on it since I have a huge ass gas bottle. I don't have any 220v extension cords that I know of though. I'd have to look. how far away is your breaker box? Adding an outlet in the garage wouldn't be hard at all if the breaker box is in there.

thanks, I have a 220 outlet on the wall already. The problem is it is on the opposite side of the garage from the 4R. Which welder did you go with?

Hobart 190.

I'll check I when I get home to see if I have a 220v extension cord. The cord on the welder is about 5 feet and the gun is 10 feet. Is that not long enough to reach?

Go to home depot, get some welder wire rated for 220V (6 or 8 gauge wire) and two 220V plugs that fit the wall out & welder outlet. Wire it in together and viola! You have an extension cord. That's what I did.
Make sure the wire has a heavy wall of insulation as well. The heavier the gauge of wire, the better.

That's what we did. Except we didn't have a wall outlet so it just runs straight out of the breaker box. About to have to put in a few outlets though since we have two 220v welders and a 220v plasma cutter. Gets old unplugging one and plugging the other in during a big project.

Yeah I have 3 plugs. One is just off the panel & also ran up to the top deck to power the hot tub (you couldn't use both at once. lol I miss that hot tub. :( )
One 220V plug is in the garage that powers the A/C unit. So during the summer you have a hard decision to make.
The third plug is outside & up super high and my mom's R/V is usually plugged into it (which she will be selling soon thankfully!).

Thankfully, in the 1980's, my father installed an oversized main panel box and used a separate panel to power the garage & another panel to power the inside of the house. So our main panel box had a lot of open slots to add breakers. After my step-dad came into the picture, he saw all the open spots and started add stuff as fast as he could lol now I think we have one spot left.

I have two 220's in the garage that are fed from the panel outside. I also have another panel in the garage and I would like to put a 3rd outlet below that panel because its closer to where the vehicles park.

More progress on the neighbors truck was made yesterday. Got the front end all buttoned up and done. Had to bend the bumper mounts a bit. He had a Ranchhand brush guard on it and it had warped the fuck out of them. Today will be rear bumper and then wait on a couple parts for the bed. Drivers side bed cap and new side step plate caps. Then its interior work. Carpet is in. Door panels will probably be installed today along with seats. Headliner still needs to be installed. But its looking pretty damn good. Its come a long ways.

Hard to believe we went from this to this

That is pretty impressive. I should have dropped off my 4Runner at your garage for a bob/dove with a 12 pack of beer.

Beer was key.. neighbor kept the bottom drawer of his beer fridge full of Silverback Fuel. It was inspiration to work on it. LOL

That's a good looking truck. Always like those stepsides. One of the stepside trucks I like.

Only beer @Silverback spills is the beer in the cooler in the back of the trail rig. You can always walk behind his rig and pick up a beer lol
