What have you done to someone else's ride lately?

It has a built in brake setup that seems pretty stout. It's a solid metal piece that clips in so it can't unscrew. I do like the idea of having extra safety built in though.

I will say, I'm less worried about it unraveling and more worried about how well I hit the studs in the ceiling. I've never hung something that heavy to a ceiling before. Yes, there are 10 lag bolts per side, but still....it's a very scary situation when you have nearly $80k in vehicles sitting right beneath it. After a few days I'll feel ok parking the cars in there again.
Did you make sure to mount it over the wife's car and not your vehicles? lol

But I would add some chains that mount into the studs and attach around the RTT base just for the extra piece of mind. One is none, two is one kinda deal...

Add a Warn Pullzall :) When I mounted my race track I ran 3/8ths all-thread from the bottom through the sheetrock and then through a large piece of .120 wall tubing that spans across 3 rafters in the attic. It will pull the rafters down before it fails. lol

Well... fuck. Last night we were driving back from Arkansas and stopped for the night in Richardson. It was about 4 and traffic was shit. So I figured we would stop at a hotel and take the kid swimming and grab some dinner later. Wife went out to get a pedicure. She was finishing up and at the same time some storm clouds rolled in. Kiddo and I got out of the pool and went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Well the wife called and she was in an accident. Trying to cross 6 lanes of traffic over a hill... black SUV was turning in and she had been sitting there for 3-5 minutes.. decided to go for it... bad call. She is fine. Sadly the car probably isn't totaled. But we (she) spent the next 3 hours on the phone to get it all straightend out. Guy that hit her was very nice, drove a new F250 Powerstroke 4x4 King Ranch with a Ranchhand bumper.. it dented his license plate. But he was super nice, didn't call the cops, offered to drive her and the contents of the car back to the hotel. But her car got pretty f'd up. If he hand't swerved he would have hit her broad side. She is ok.. and its a car.. they will make more.

I'm glad she is ok, and you had your daughter with you!

Thanks man.. not that she would have been hurt (she would have been on the opposite side) but she would freak out.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Damn. Richardson is 40 min from me. Let me know if you need a shop recommendation. These guys do nothing less than perfect when it comes to service and fixing a car.
If you need something up here with the car just let me know.

Cut new 2"x10" boards for our family trailer. The old ones had dry rotted. Also picked up a new 3/4" treated plywood for the sides.
I tore off the old plywood, cut out the old screws that were holding the plywood to the sides, sanded down the sides to bare metal and primed them. Sun went down before the primer coat dried so I'll paint it later.

Considering the damage inside the door frame I was surprised they did not total it sooner.

If it was a cheaper car they would have totaled it day 1.

They had to drill some holes to do some "exploratory" investigation and call in an "expert".. took a lot longer than anticipated. But we have contacted "our guy" at the dealership to locate a replacement. They have 2 on the lot, a silver and a dark blue. Up to her as to the color.

Welp.. just left the dealer. Wife was finishing up the deal and they were detailing it out. Take it back next week to have the windows tinted (ceramic all around plus a clear on the front to cut down on UV rays). I will install the headrest DVD units once I get them back from the body shop. The only option it didn't have that the old one did was the illuminated door sills. Big deal. I can add them later if we wanted to... doesn't really matter to me.
