What have you done to your ride lately?

Well it was a long day of running around. Tried to replace the tie rods, ended up getting no where. The parts I ordered from toyota of dallas didn't come with new jam nuts, and no one carries the correct size anywhere, not even the dealership. They could order them in though by saturday. Plus I couldn't get the seized one to break at all or even get the outer tie rod to come out of the steering knuckle. I kept realizing I apparently didn't have the correct size tools either so I kept trying to find those. Thought I had everything I needed, turns out I'm just an idiot. haha.
So after taking everything apart that I could, I just put it all back together for another day. Or possibly to be taken to the dealership if worst comes to worst.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Those wrench/parts run days suck. I seem to have them from time to time no matter how hard I try to have everything planned out and prepared properly.

Yeah it was really frustrating. I literally took everything apart to work, stopped to run to get a bunch of things I didn't realize I needed, only to come back and not be able to make any progress and have to put everything back together in defeat.

Anyone know what this is? Came out when I was trying to remove the wheel bearing to replace the inner seal.. which I also wasn't able to do.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Anyone need CB parts or radios? There are a few vendors here at the truck show selling stuff at what seem like a decent price

In retrospect now that I see the wood grain with the cable I realize the size.. damn old eyes. The first pic had me.

Can you get some heat on the jam nut?

I don't have any myself, but I might be able to find someone who does. Or I may give in and take it to the dealership...

Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes he eats you. We have all been there multiple times. Keep at it. The more you wrench and have mishaps the more you refine your own process "if" you learn from your mistakes. Regardless of how well you prep and how knowledgeable you are Murphy's law is always hiding in wait.

I like to get every last mile out of my tires and I think I may have been down to my last 100 or so miles. These are LAZY TIRES - AKA Run Flats - Harsher ride - the car has a spare - albeit small, it's a spare.

Once again I put Z rated Continental Extreme Contact DWS (Dry Wet Snow) tires. Their not P-Zeros but I still get ETs and Lap Times that I qualify for freeway onramps, off-ramps, sweeper fly-overs, and Desert to Vegas medium speed runs. And with a UTQG rating of 560 AA A, they have a 50,000 mile warranty to boot. And for Lazy Owners, they even come with free roadside assistance in the case of a flat for the first 3 years.

Now to see if that's a bushing or a lower control arm.

It looks like these tires were allowed to 'run flat' or near flat - both outer edges were worn with the center still had thread. Certainly isn't a tire off the M3 or 7 - Those things used to get stretched like they were tires on a Top Fuel Funny car! lol
