You did a lot of work today, probably yesterday for you

Yep I was at it for about 10 hours. The flush takes a while, one with hose water, and two flushes with distilled water. To get to the damn engine block drain on the passenger side is a pain in the ass without removing the starter but I got 'er done. Amazing the amount of shit that was floating around in there, hoping the filtration system will keep the coolant quite a bit cleaner.

After doing the test drive everything I did was good but raising the temperature raised the pressure in the degas bottle and at 15 years old it sprung a leak at the seam. Ordered a new OEM degas bottle and cap. After that it should be good to go

Why does an hour job usually take about 3 or 4 hours? And the funny part, this job will not make the wiring work any better. I just hope it looks better. :] Rewiring cables that connect to the battery.

That's exactly my reasoning for doing in as well.. plus it will help in troubleshooting issues Or so I hope.

I wouldn't say common but while I had everything apart and drained it was easy to add. The sand left over from casting can shorten the life on water pump seals and clog the oil cooler.
Do you have a dirt shaker you sprinkle that air cleaner with? ;)

So I have not been real happy with the "quick secure" (ie easy to release) battery connectors I put on the '01 4Runner a while ago. The biggest issue is if I needed to jump off another vehicle I was going to inadvertently disconnect my negative cable. Since I had the loose battery issue earlier this week I went ahead and ordered new connectors to cleanup the battery area. I really like how easy to install and how nice these terminal connectors look. Now to build a battery box sometime soon.

Lucky the hub didn't launch off the axle and hit someone. I had one blow off the passenger side and launch 20' and about hit Drew and Jason. It sounded like a canon. I went with chromo hub studs and drive flanges. No need for hubs.

Ive had some of the studs hit me in the chest when i was spotting kevin up a trail at K2. The studs exploded and the conewasher/nut/stud combo went everywhere. Would have been bad if it got me in the face.

Luckily the opening of my wheel is smaller than the hub, so it stayed nice and cozy inside there. I found it in time to catch the 2 last studs before they fell out.
