What have you done to your ride lately?

Weird event tonight; I was replacing the u-joint in the rear part of the drive shaft. The ends on two end caps literally cracked and popped off when being seated. The pop was not even on the side where the pressure was being applied with the ball joint press. I have not seen this before but thankfully I have a spare u joint I keep in my camping parts kit. I will try on a different u-joint carrier tomorrow and hopefully be successful.

Anyone see that before? Did I just get some crap Spicer parts? Maybe fake Spicers?

A Genuine spicer will have the PN stamped in it. Can’t say I’ve seen that before, you sure you have the correct size ujoints?

I have a list saved on Amazon with the part that I have used for the last 5 or 6 years now. I will double check the part when I go out there this afternoon.

I was using a breaker bar on the ball joint press. I would laugh saying I am strong enough to destroy an end cap without feeling it.

I have busted a one or two caps by removing them, not while pressing them.
Add a bit of grease before pressing them in.

look legit to me but I know sometimes Amazon has been known for selling counterfeit spark plugs even though they look real, never heard of that for ujoints. Maybe your yoke is worn a bit? Any luck with a different set of ujoints?

Going to see about hitting up a junk yard to find a spare driveshaft to rebuild as a spare. I do not think I will be selling this rig anytime soon so a spare DS is not a bad idea.

Aren't there Spicer parts made in China now? That might be the issue

Already got a rock chip on the LC. Filled it yesterday so it does not spread.

Shoot dang. The T4R that I picked up for my son already came with a nice crack in the windshield. I don't plan on replacing it unless it obstructs the drivers view.

Post up pic of the new ride!

I will take a pic of it today. Last night I felt some pulsing when braking from highway speed, so new rotors and pads are on my short list. OEM rotors, and TRD pads is what I am thinking.

Looking at these tires in 1 size up, so a 285/65/18. My brother is running them on his Tundra and has performed great in snow and the forest service roads in Colorado.

Yesterday must of been a day for windshields; my windshield took a couple rocks. I could not find any chips but to be fair it already has a good number of them. I keep debating when to replace the windshield and then take another hit.

Installed some window vent visors, basically a requirement here in South Texas.

Kia needs new tires. Have a slow leak in one and DT won’t touch it because the tire is worn so much. I knew it was going to need tires but was trying to make it until March. That won’t be happening. Going to call Monday and see what I can get ordered for it.

Since I had my tools out after changing my mom's battery, I went ahead and swapped out the secondary battery in my S60. I just used a cheap $20 battery I got off Amazon. I accidentally dropped one of the square 8mm nuts to the bottom of the car and luckily I had a bag of oversized square 8mm nuts that I brought home from an empty lab. I ground it down and fit it in. I got so lucky having that spare square nut since I would had to put the old battery back in and go get another nut somewhere else.

The wives XC90 has that starter battery in a compartment under the hood, easy to lose a nut in there. IIRC I think I did but since it was a small enclosed area I found it. The CCA and what not on the Volvos secondary battery are a joke.. I think my cordless drill has more power than they do.

Yeah this little battery runs the radio and auxiliary components while the engine is off (it doesn't start the car as the main battery does that). I only know this because there's two battery options for my Volvo's year model, one for Volvo's with the start-stop bullshit and the other without it.

Oh that makes more sense.. I just know its the battery used when the auto stop/start is engaged. Which every time I get in the vehicle I turn that shit off.

On your XC90, there isn't a button on the tablet to keep it off (swipe to the side on the tablet to see all the additional settings)? On my wife's 2020, you can switch it off permanently.
