What have you done to your ride lately?

Cracks, crackety crack. Working on the truck tomorrow, I'll check mine for cracks. Ive winched a few times, but haven't had it under too much load.

I think you'll need to reinforce it. It'll probably just shear again bc the metal is so damn thin. My bumper reinforcement sheared after a month of fixing it the first time.

I think you are right. I am going to complete all the stitching first and then I will put some small peices in select areas. I have to say it was like a series of paper dolls!!! lol

The front of the frame really needs to be redesigned with thicker material but the IFS cross members make it next to impossible to plate the frame. Unless your intent on some major frame redesign in cutting it off and rebuilding you'll just be better off with a much lighter tube style bumper

You are so correct. I don't want to put it back together but I have an important pilgrimage to one of my mecca's coming up soon! :)

Sorry to see this but it is making me like the CBI hybrid more and more.

Or something like that.

I've winched WAY more than I probably should have. I have a couple of ideas that I think should help - There is just too much of a twisting moment on that bumper the way it's designed. Like I said, I would first design something to take the load of the winch and then design a bumper around that.

This is like a 12 step program - My purpose now is to help others with their crack problems!!! lol

Now back to my crack whore pics...

Turned the heat up a bit and it worked nicely - just had to be careful not to burn through.

Thank you Boyd and Drew. Now to put a little filler weld in a couple of places, paint and mount. Then I to dismantle the leafs down to just the top leaf and mount with a spacer to simulate the thickness of the other leafs and cycle. Homework is almost done. :)

Is there a way you can get a piece of backing metal in there to weld the two frame pieces to?

That's what the race truck had and if I had the metal today, I would have done it. It will probably break again but I'm okay with that now - I know I shouldn't be. :)

I think you can see it now. I put it on Hillary's server.

Crumple Zone

(I did close that gap after I burned the bottom part that was already aligned.)

Cleaning up the 'Jersey locktite and weld in some of the missing metal.
