View attachment 3113 View attachment 3112 Backed my truck out of the garage to wash it and found this puddle near the front tire.

Turned out the front strut only lasted 10,000 miles and 7 months. Time to test out the Icon 1 year warranty. Swapped the stock coils back on along with the sway bar.
I know your pain. Mine when out twice in the first year. I am seriously considering going to OME, Fox, Rad Flo or SAW the next time mine go out. The quality of the seals from Icons new lowest bid provider fucking sucks. It seems that everyone is having the same issue at about a year. Icons quality has just gone to shit. Call and ask for Todd at Icon. He may send you a shipping receipt so getting it there wont cost you anything.

Did they both go out or just one?

Chris gave a hand yesterday getting all of this mounted up, all for the cheap labor rate of a bunch of Yuengs. Thanks again man.

I never knew it was good? From bad joojoo in the true "beginning" of the original company to bad seals and bad designs/metal composition Ive steered far clear from them. Now every time I see a set of Icons that last more than 2 years they are rusted as bad if not worse than a set of Fox's.

This past monday, I had to reweld a Total chaos alignment tab that had bent. I knocked it back in place, ground it down and re-welded it. Since I already had my welder out, I took the time to reweld a nut that hold my skidplate in place. Since I had to take my skidplate off, I went ahead and welded the back side of the subframe I had installed awhile back. And while I waited for all of my welds to cool off so I could paint them, I went ahead and welded a rear light bracket back onto my trailer. So a half hour job ended up taking 5 hours because I kept adding work to what I was doing. Thankfully it was a nice day out!

Also, ordered a Procomp 7089 spare rim so I'll have a matching spare and it'll be the right backspacing. I'm not fan of these rims since they seem to need a lot of weight to balance but they are really cheap and I'll just upgrade to new ones once I have some spare cash. I wish SCS had the SR8 in 17" in stock. :(

Sucks to hear their quality is in the crapper. I almost went with Radflo front coils but came across the Icon group buy and it was the same price.
I have heard the OME on the 4runners rides very rough and I don't want that. I guess I will see how long the rebuild lasts and go from there.

I've never had a problem with mine (knock on wood) and I've beat mine to hell & back. My Fox shocks failed after ~40k miles.

I'm not a fan of OME shocks (the old series. I don't know how the new coilovers and shocks ride. The ones that Rich just installed). The rear shocks were garbage and the OME fronts weren't that great. I'd say the Bilstein's rode better quality wise than the OME's.

Rich, which tent is that? CVT or ARB? And what size awning? The 6.5'W ARB awning? I still need to mount mine.

If I end up changing brands I will probably go with BOSS or Radflo.

I talked with Wilson (formerly of TRDparts4U and RDO) he said that even Jeep owners are having the same issue with Icons. So this issue is Icon wide not vehicle specific. I'm 6 months in on the last rebuild and everything is fine for now. I just check them every week and wish I didn't have to. I did run a higher PSI before the first rebuild so that may have been a small contributing factor in mine going out early. But it does seem that Icon has gone to an inferior seal manufacturer. Icons from about 07 till just a couple of years ago seems like those last for a few years or 50k+ miles without a rebuild.

I may go ahead and get my other coil rebuilt while they are off the truck. I would be super pissed if the other went out in a few weeks just at after getting the other rebuilt.
What are y'alls thoughts?

If there's nothing wrong with it, then what can they fix? When I had my first set of Icon shocks rebuilt, they just replaced the eyelets on both, rebuilt/recharged one of em and checked the other one to make sure it was pressurized correctly. That same shock never failed and is still good to go.

Replace the crappy seal they put in it with a new crappy seal?

That's what happened to mine. If it's not leaking I don't think they would do anything. There isn't anything for them to cover under warranty. You can call Icon and talk with Todd and see what he will do. He told me this last time that they would do the rebuild the day it got in rather than it sitting till Tuesday. So he may work with you on it.

I'm afraid that's what they do and why I check at least once a week to see if they are leaking or not.
