What have you done to your ride lately?

Much bigger reservoir and maybe a cooler, I'd leave the stock pump until it becomes an issue. Mine had zero problems with a stock non modified pump and 37s

Hmm I hadn't thought about a cooler. Thanks.

You sent your steering box to West Texas Offroad to get modified didn't you?

Yup though I ended up keeping mine and paying a core fee, sector shaft on mine was cracked so it was worthless

500ish for them to rebuild/tap your box plus hoses/ram/mounting brackets. Bout another 400 for the core charge. I just got screwed on the core since my box was damaged, yours is probably a good core as I'm fairly sure my sector shaft was cracked in the wreck that put its donor in the junkyard

Ahh okay. I really just need a tap/rebuild. I need to check and see what size rams we have at work. May be worth it to just go ahead and get the whole shabang from them. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Motor mounts and spring/shackle hangers from RuffStuff showed up today. Damn this stuff is beefy! Shock towers from Ballistic will be here Monday. Was going to wait until next month to start but I'm getting anxious. I'm off for 7 days starting next Friday. Might have to go ahead and get started on it.

I took a few minutes while pumping gas today to finally snap in my switch for the TRAC disable mod/ aka Andy Mod. I really like this switch as a basic switch - cheap, solid, snaps in nicely and feels solid.

The battery for my '87 4Runner finally showed up. It fits nicely and starts the old motor strongly. I need to get the dovetail to a point this weekend where I can drive the 4Runner around the neighborhood again. I also ordered some flush mount LED taillights that will be turn and brake signals.

I have a 1/4" bar bent perfectly around it. But yeah; I still need to get a strap over the top of it. I am currently debating doing the battery / air box swap though so I am trying to with hold materials and time till I decide.

If you rolled it the battery would slide up and weld itself to the bottom of the hood. The strap on the side is good to keep it in place during normal operations.... but even a high speed bump could cause it to move upwards and make contact.

This is why, some day I want to get all batteries as close to the CG as possible - or should I say help move the CG back and make the inner fender wells and radiator supports biggest job to hold light weight items. :)

I may take delivery of a new frame with (said with lowest of low gutteral radio voices) a low, low price. :) If it happens, I will post up all, pre-body transfer gusseting. :)

Adjusted the timing on the '87 4Runner this morning. It is idling much nicer now at 5* BDC. I plan to let it idle for a while and then check everything again. The timing was initially so far off I could not even see the mark with the timing light.

So all your rig needed was a better battery and a timing adjustment for it to run like it should?

Have you checked compression and fuel pressure? Could just need a new pump

Test the fuel pressure, at 30 years old it's likely not likely to be moving enough fuel any more. Could save you some cash on the injectors
