What have you done to your ride lately?

Both front shocks are on the rig now. Today I started rebuilding the exhaust system and repaired a cross bar behind the passenger seat area. The transfer case skid plate I picked up from Chris required a rebuild of my exhaust so I am working on that right now so as I can at least wheel this thing a little this winter.

I would love to get back to Arkansas next weekend for the leaves changing colors. I would settle for the first of the year.

I'm thinking about hitting Big Bend in March for my birthday. Whatever week in off for Spring Break. Will either be the week of the 6th or the 13th.

Since i had the week off, i took the time to get some work done on the Squirrel.

First off i knocked out the rest of the tube work for the rear of the cage.

Roof bars are in.

Rear end is hung and rear frame rails built. its set up for 8" of uptravel for a 16" coilover. As you can see i had to notch the passenger side frame rail to accommodate for the truss. (i didnt realize the truss took into account the pinion offset of the 14bolt and i assumed it was symmetrical on both side. And of course i did the drivers side first and it is lower :homer:) I would rather have them lower anyways.

Mocked up the front sheetmetal. Took about 18" out of the front and went with the headlight delete. It came out better than i thought. its not going to be chrome but i had one from a parts truck laying aorund and wanted to see how it turned out before using a better one. Also will either trim these fenders or swap on some 4wd ones.

Couldnt resist bolting up the tires to see how she looked

Like a dumbass i wasnt paying attention when i was bending up my front shock hoops and forgot to pull a pin and broke the bender. JD2 is sending me replacements. im an idiot.

So i continued with more interior work. Windshield bars and down bars are in. Started to mock up the seats.

Seats mounted

artec ram mount tacked on.

its starting to come together really well. Leg room isnt as bad as i thought it was going to be and headroom is an easy 3" more than what i had on my previous cage. Im undecided on door bars. I know they are probably a good idea but not sure. Once i get my new arms for my bender ill continue on with the front tube work. I ordered up some new Fox coilovers from Ryan with Accutune. Those should be in later this week as well. After discussing things with him, i will add some swaybars front and rear to the list.

Those seats are not going anywhere! The bend work looks really good. Which bender are you using?

JD Squared Model 32 with a swag air/hydro ram attachment. Bend-tech Pro makes it stupid easy to use.

Nice to see some real progress being made in here. It's almost motivating me to get off my ass.

Anyone have any gas gauge issues on a second gen Tacoma? Mine used to throw the low fuel light and I would refill and it would take about 17-18 gallons. The past two times I've filled up (once the light wasn't even one) I put over 20 gallons in it.

When I was driving my Tacoma the light always came on at the same point. I always had to put 17 gallons in it to refill completely.

Right... thats exactly how mine used to be. Yesterday the light was off and it really looked like I had about an 1/8th of a tank left.. 20+ gallons!

Change gas stations, Abu at the quick-e-mart is ripping you off by skewing the calibration of his pump, selling you 18 gallons and charging you for 20.

I have really wondered how often this happens. I had one station try to tell me I pumped 18 gallons into my 3rd gen 4R once when I had a 1/4 tank in it when I pulled up. It only has an 18.5 gallon tank!
