What have you done to your ride lately?

My fuel gauge froze 4 years ago on empty and the light has been on ever since.

Whats going on under that swing gate pivot spindle?

Its the lockout dealio so you can lock the swingout open.

VHT Chassis and rollbar paint over a couple coats of self etching primer.

Picked up a little something at Fastenal today. I wasn't expecting it until next week.

One piece of advice Sean- when you start cutting the bedsides, cut as fast as you can. Don't go slow. My second cut was much cleaner & better than my first since I wasn't timid anymore lol

Good idea. I could use that. Ive driven away a few times with my gate swinging in the wind.

Luckily mine won't pivot back far enough to slam my taillight or bed - just swings with the force of an atom bomb into itself.
Mines so damn heavy I'm afraid it'll shear off. When I open it fully the whole truck sags to the hinge side...

Looking forward to the brown truck Santa to deliver some new cable and hardware to upgrade the battery cables on my '01 and '87 4Runners. New spark plugs and cables should be here later this week. I am about 8,000 miles over the mark to replace them.

Figured out the deal with the gas gauge. At least I think so. Apparently there is a known issue with the ethanol in today's gas causing issues with the resistance in the sending unit. Now to locate one and then pull the bed and install it. Fun fun!!

Sending unit is in the tank/part of the pump isn't it? When I was doing my research years ago I was pretty sure it was part of the pump. If that is the case there are a few aftermarket pumps available from URD with more flow, better design, and external filters. Seemed to be the best course of action for me years ago...well besides inaction

It is in the tank and part of the pump. Toyota wants about $300 for a new one.

@Silverback Yeah I'd agree with replacing the pump with a URD one but I know NYCO over at Tardworld had issues with it. He posted about it in his build thread but I couldn't find it through the 200+ pages. I think he was running really rich because he didn't have a supercharger or something? But in the end, he ended up dropping the tank, taking out the URD fuel pump and putting in an OEM one IIRC. I'd call URD and talk to them about it first.

Edit: I meant rich not lean. Too much fuel.

Thanks @Anathollo I'll probably go with OEM. Its ok for now but I'm planning to do some things to the bed in the near future. I suppose pulling the bed will make some of that work a little easier anyhow.
