I spoke too soon. This mother was seized like a sombuck. I ended up cutting the cross out and pushing the caps out with the ball joint press. I cleaned everything up and put a fresh coat of flat black everywhere that was rusted prior. I should have bought a lotto ticket today - the cheap broken bolt extractor kit worked like an "As Seen on TV" commercial on getting the snapped off zerk fitting out of the drive shaft. Both drive shafts were reinstalled and everything got enough grease pumped in to get some black crude shoved out. The test drive was great; only issue was I had to hold off swapping CV axles today since it kept trying to rain on me in the drive way.

Yeah; is there anything else to use to cut that mother out?
If you didn't put 40-50k miles per year, that 4R should have all new parts by now...
I am doing better about cutting down my mileage on the 4Runner. So far I am on track this year to only have 25-30k miles. I am going to get back to using the motorcycle for mid week transportation again.

This is the first year I ever remember coming in under 20k miles. I'm at 17k right now with about 4 weeks left in the "year".
Hunting season racks up the miles for me, the rest of the year probably less than 8k, damn I waste a lot of money on good fun, that deer meat probably cost $150 per lb
Yeah that's how mine were. Sledge hammer. Socket. It was miserableI spoke too soon. This mother was seized like a sombuck.
