What have you done to your ride lately?

I was thinking about this yesterday....

...haven't you had the Tacoma and the Civic for a while now? All of a sudden because you get the Tacoma running you have to ditch the civic? I would pitch the reliability and gas mileage of the civic as a daily driver and the utility of the "work truck" for house projects and camping trips. Get the Tacoma the cheapest liability only insurance you can find and keep both. While none of the things on your list are "major" (meaning you should be able to do them all yourself), it's still a decent sized list.
X2. I need a daily driver...we pay off my wife's car in August so I'm gonna bug her about getting an SUV and taking over her car.
I dont care to keep the civic. Sure 35mpg is great but with bad knees, the clutch is a bitch and a half if I drive more than 30 minutes or so at once. I'd rather put the money toward buying 5-10 acres sometime next year. Not to mention they're having problems with oil dilution in these 1.5T engines and Honda isnt doing shit about it. Just calling it normal and brushing it off.
Yeah Honda is doing the same with the CVT transmissions. I'm worried about my Mother-in-Law's new Honda SUV. Kinda crazy to see that Honda reliability is going downhill.

Speaking of SD. I picked mine back up from the dealer. Everything is done. Finally. I also bought a bug guard for it.. smoked one. But of course its pissing down rain so it will go on another day.

Do you have it? Shit is cheap.. like $5 on the app store! Add a bluetooth ODB2 port adapter and you are set.. or so it appears.
I honestly have not even looked at it. FW? (TW of the Ford world) talk about it like its plasti-deerp

Looks like it’s Pandoras box. Not sure I want to open it.

Well my sammich maker is getting a new bedside on the Tacoma. The body shop decided it was too much work to repair it and are working on getting a new bedside. That is a much better option in my opinion.

Needed to do an oil change yesterday, so I set out to do that. When I was removing the filter I noticed a lot of fluid on the top of my skid plate which I thought was odd. Upon further investigation I noticed that my driver front diff seal at the CV was leaking. So then I went ahead and replaced that seal and topped off the fluid. Rotated tires, adjusted rear brakes and put her back on her wheels. Love it when a 30 minute job turns into an all-day ordeal, but glad I caught that when I did. I just changed my diff fluids in Feb so it hasn’t been leaking for long.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my front brake pads have been rattling for ever and I finally had a good reason to fix that since the wheels were off. Replaced the springs in the calipers and now it drives quiet as a mouse :)

On the F150, where the fuel tank is located the brake lines run along the frame and lines over time will chaff, simple solution is to ad some vinyl or fuel tubing around the brake lines.

While the truck was up on the lift, I added some more tubing , about 200lbs worth...bolts onto the frame, most likely I will have someone weld it on with some tube and make some custom brackets, the current mounting brackets just don’t seem stout enough and because one of brackets is in the way of putting the transfer case skid plate back on.

With the overload leaf, it’s just a tad high in the back, which is ok, because it will settle and I plan to change out bumpers as well.

As much as I like my power fold away steps on the new ride. Need to see if that FORScan app will let you control them. Like when Alarm is set they are deployed. Alarm not set they operate as designed.

Well for prob less then $20 investment, its prob worth it. Your more tech savvy then I am, let me know if it works.

Crawled around under the truck today to Dsee what all I need to add to my plan to tackle in this thing. Not in any specific order:

Exhaust (rusted to shit)
Steering rack bushings (cracking)
Carrier bearing (trashed)
U joints (they're fine - just changing because they're cheap)
Transmission filter, fluid, and gasket
Transfer case fluid
Diff fluids
LCA bushings need addressed soon
UCA bushings (because might as well do it all at once and TC aren't happening soon)
Upper ball joints (lowers are fine)
Windshield fluid reservoir

I'm sure the list will grow but these are the major things I have to work on before I can have any fun with this thin . Hoping to knock it all out over the next few months and be able to take a trip this fall.

Got everything ordered today except the exhaust and fluids. Local dealership even had thr ball joints in stock. Everything else will be here from RockAuto or Amazon by Friday.
