What problems? Symptoms?

Smells like it's getting fuel but will not turn over on it's own. It cranks away, but never fires. Showing no codes and the codes I had prior have been cleared by the swap. Tried "resetting" it about 20 different ways and to date nothing has worked. It is not an issue with the key/chip as I tested that and it's A-OK.

It's gotta be something stupied silly. we triple checked our work and every harness is spot on as well as every hose and line.

si - along with a brand new fuel pump & perfectly cleaned tank + I can hear the pump so I'm very doubtful thats an issue.

Air-Fuel-Fire is all you SHOULD need............

Along with a fuck load of computer sensors.
Check the cam/crank position sensors

@AlienXtx brings up a good point.

For your off-grid days, you may be better suited getting something that doesn't have all the computer BS. I'm thinking carbureted big block, or one of the OG Land Cruiser engines.

A good Toyota OG Indy shop should be able to diagnose. Also have you used the Factory Service Manual and gone through their troubleshooting?

... I've been stuck in the middle of EBF and my truck wouldn't start. I cleaned the MAF, disconnected the battery, stepped on the brake, waited 5 min, connected the battery and the bitch fired right up!

Spent $65 at the junk yard today and got a bunch of parts for the 4Runner:

Trailer hitch
Stock air intake
Door handle
Washer fluid tank
Windshield visor
Plastic seat trim pieces
Dead petal (I broke the one I had while removing the carpet)
Cruise control module lid

Yesterday I removed the seats and the carpet to clean the 24 years of dirt out of the carpet. The previous owner had been using it as a ranch truck with no floor mats....it was nasty. A ton of oxy clean, scrubbing on my hands and knees, and churning it around in the hot tub with the jets going for 3 hours got the carpet looking a thousand times better. This evening I put the carpet and the seats back in. I need to figure out why the gear selector wobbles around so much. It seems excessively loose when compared to the amount of play my Tacoma has.

Oh, and yesterday I also wired in a new FM radio antenna.

Finally, it’s insured now so once I get it up to snuff I’ll take it down the road for an inspection. $27 a month for insurance. Love it!

I bet the gear selector needs new plastic bushings under it. That seems to be a common thing in them when they get abused.

If I did not DD my 4Runner I would drop the insurance to the bare minimum; but until then I am keeping full coverage on it.

This.

Insurance has been a hot topic with us lately. Going down to 1 income and introducing baby #3 we are really watching expenses. I called USAA yesterday to see if there was any way to reduce our monthly expense on insurance and they assured me that I have every discount available. So far, I've gotten quotes from Geico and Liberty Mutual and for comparable coverage (read: apples to apples) I'm looking at saving over $500 a year.

No accidents, excellent credit.
USAA - $187 / mo
Geico - $147 / mo
Liberty - $145 / mo

At a $40 per month difference, that's $480 per year for something that is used very infrequently. I'm going to keep getting quotes and figure I'll check with a few others like State Farm, Farmers, and Allstate.

I really like USAA, but I'm having a hard time justifying them at this point.

USAA is expensive, but they cover more, you better print off and line by line the numbers, I have done it for years.

I don't think Geico and Liberty does not offer/include the "$100,000 each person medical payments" also check the $5000 each person Personal Injury Protection.
double check it and let me know.

USAA - $187 / mo A++ From A.M. Best

also if your home is insured by USAA, you will lose another $150 to 200 for not having a bundled insurance, so that difference might be $280 to $330 with the other insurers.

I price out insurance every year for autos, RV and house.

Progressive is now the cheapest at $133.

I've done all my comparison by auto only, but would move the house to "bundle and save" as everyone claims. So FWIW, my comparison is auto only and have not done the bundled quote, so those rates are compared to the "bundled" USAA rate.

I figure I'll spend some time when I'm not at work and put together a spreadsheet showing what I get with USAA and list how the others compare.
